Emma Keenan
Emma Keenan (born November 26, 1997) is a Canadian-American professional ice hockey defenseman for the Shenzhen KRS of the Chinese Women's Ice Hockey League (WCIHL). She previously played for the Buffalo Beauts and Connecticut Whale of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) and Göteborg HC of the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL). She played college ice hockey at Clarkson. Early life Keenan was born in Mission Viejo, California, and raised in Calgary, Alberta. She has dual citizenship in Canada and the United States. College career Keenan began her collegiate career at Clarkson during the 2015–16 season. During her freshman year, she recorded one goal and six assists in 40 games. During the 2016–17 season, in her sophomore year, she recorded six assists in 41 games, and helped lead Clarkson to the 2017 NCAA National Collegiate women's ice hockey tournament championship. Connecticut Whale (PHF)
The Connecticut Whale were a professional ice hockey team based in the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF). They played in Simsbury, Connecticut at the International Skating Center of Connecticut. The team was established in 2015 as one of the four charter franchises of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL), which became the PHF in 2021. Their name and colors paid homage to the Hartford Whalers, a former NHL and WHA franchise based in Connecticut. The team folded along with the PHF in 2023 as part of the creation of a new, unified women's league, the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). 2017 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Tournament
The 2017 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Tournament involved eight schools in Single-elimination tournament, single-elimination play to determine the national champion of women's National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA Division I (NCAA), Division I college sports, college ice hockey. The quarterfinals were contested at the campuses of the seeded teams on March 11, 2017. The Frozen Four was played on March 17 and 19, 2017 at Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri with Lindenwood University as the host. The tournament was won by with a 3–0 win over , giving the Golden Knights their second title in program history. 2023–24 PWHL Season
The 2023–24 PWHL season was the first season of operation of the Professional Women's Hockey League, and began play on January 1, 2024. Six teams competed during the inaugural season, located in PWHL Montreal, Montreal, PWHL Toronto, Toronto, PWHL New York, New York/Bridgeport, PWHL Boston, Boston, PWHL Ottawa, Ottawa, and PWHL Minnesota, Saint Paul. Montreal Force
The Montreal Force () were a professional women's ice hockey team in the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF), based in Montreal, Quebec. The team was established in 2022 and debuted in the 2022–23 PHF season. The Force played only one season, as the PHF's assets were purchased, and the league dissolved, at season's end.
