Emma D. Miller
Emma D. Miller is an American documentary filmmaker. She was listed in DOC NYC's "40 Under 40" in 2022 and was the recipient of the Sundance Institute Producers Lab Fellowship in 2023. In 2024, she was named one of ''Filmmaker Magazine''s "25 New Faces of Independent Film". Career In 2012, Emma graduated from Duke University, where she was a Robertson Scholar. She is the founder of the production company Marcona Media. Emma produced '' What We Leave Behind'', which premiered at South by Southwest in 2022, winning two Special Jury Awards, and received a Gotham Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature. Doc NYC (stylized as DOC NYC) is an annual documentary film festival in New York City. Co-founded by Thom Powers and Raphaela Neihausen, the festival is the country's largest documentary film festival with over 300 films and events and 250 special guests. By 2014, DOC NYC had become America's largest documentary film festival and voted by MovieMaker magazine as one of the "top five coolest documentary film festivals in the world". ''Unrest'' is a 2017 documentary film produced and directed by Jennifer Brea. The film tells the story of how Jennifer and her new husband faced an illness that struck Jennifer just before they married. Initially dismissed by doctors, she starts filming herself to document her illness and connects with others who are home- or bedbound with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME). The New Orleans Film Festival is an annual film festival organized by the nonprofit organization New Orleans Film Society, a film society founded in 1989.
