Emma Chelius
Emma Chelius (born 2 August 1996) is a South African swimmer. Biography She competed in the women's 50 metre freestyle event at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships. A month later, she competed at the Summer Universiade held in Taipei and qualified for the semi-final of the Women's 50m freestyle, where she finishe14th overall Finishing 33rd in the 100m freestyle and 24th in the 50m butterfly, Chelius returned to Stellenbosch to finish her final year of studies. In 2018, Chelius competed at the Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast, Australia. Chelius qualified for the semi-finals in 3 events, the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and the 50m butterfly. In the 50m freestyle semi-final, Emma swam an identical time to the Cyprus swimmer for 10th place. This resulted in a swim-off for the second reserve, which Emma won in 25.5, a time that would have initially qualified for the final. Westville is an area in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and is just west and inland of Durban. 2022 World Aquatics Championships
The 2022 World Aquatics Championships, the 19th edition of the FINA World Aquatics Championships, were held in Budapest, Hungary, from 17 June to 3 July 2022. In March 2022, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, FINA banned both the Russian and Belarusian nationals from entering the championships. Host selection Originally, Budapest was selected to host the 2021 World Aquatics Championships. However, after Guadalajara, Mexico, pulled out from the organization of the 2017 Championships, the city took the responsibility for hosting the event, since the infrastructure was already fully ready. Consequently, the application process for the 2021 edition was reopened and the event was relocated to Fukuoka, Japan, and was scheduled to be held between 16 July to August 1, 2021. Swimming was among the sports contested at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, held in Birmingham, England. The sport had been staged in all twenty-one previous editions of the Games thus far, and will be contested in England for the third time.
