Emma Boyd
Emma Boyd (born 29 July 2000) is a Canadian international lawn bowler. Career Boyd came to prominence in 2017, when she was selected by Canada for the 2017 World Junior Championships in Wales, known as the IIBC Championships. She won the Under-25 mixed doubles gold medal at the Championships. She later moved to live in Australia and joined the Tweed Heads BC. In 2023, she was selected as part of the team to represent Canada at the blue riband event of the sport, the 2023 World Outdoor Bowls Championship. She participated in the women's triples and the women's fours events. In the fours, Boyd qualified in second place in her group before being eliminated in the quarter final after losing to Scotland. One week later in the triples partnering Joanna Cooper and Baylee van Steijn, the team won a bronze medal after losing to New Zealand in the semi finals. Tsawwassen
Tsawwassen ( ) is a suburban, mostly residential community on a peninsula in the southwestern corner of the City of Delta in British Columbia, Canada. It provides the only road access to the American territory on the southern tip of the peninsula, the community of Point Roberts, Washington, via 56th Street. It is also the location of Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal, part of the BC Ferries, built in 1959 to provide foot-passenger and motor vehicle access from the Lower Mainland to the southern part of Vancouver Island and the southern Gulf Islands. Baylee van Steijn (born 26 February 2001) is a Canadian international lawn bowler. Career Baylee van Steijn first came to prominence in 2016, when she represented Canada against the United States, as part of the Canadian Development squad. Two years later in 2018, she won a bronze medal in a ten nation event in Wales. Bowling with Jake Masterson, she won the mixed pairs national title of Canada in 2022 and the following year in 2023, won the silver medal at the Canadian Youth Championships. Australian Open (bowls)
The Australian National Bowls Championships and the Australian Open are organised by Bowls Australia. Bowls dates back to 1845 in Australia but it was not until 1910, during the 1910 Carnival of bowls that South Australia proposed the formation of the Australian Bowling Council (consisting of the six states) which duly formed the following year in 1911. The first National Singles Championships were held in 1913, with each state holding the Championships in turn. The Championships were also known as the Carnival at one stage. The Championships were not held for a twelve year period from 2005 until 2016 when the Australian Open effectively replaced the National Championships.
