Emine
Emine is an Arabic language, Arabic-origin given name used for females in Turkey. It has three major meanings: (1) one in whom you can trust and believe, (2) one who is benign and innocuous, and (3) one who is fearless and courageous. It is also argued that the word means beautiful. The name is also used in Japanese (えみね), often with the kanji 笑音 meaning "smiling sound". Origins and variants The origin of ''Emine'' is Arabic, but its source word has not been clearly established, and two accounts are given. Emine Erdoğan (; born 16 February 1955) is the current first lady of Turkey as the wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Early and personal life Early life Emine Erdoğan was born as Cemal and Hayriye Gülbaran’s fifth child and only daughter in Üsküdar, Istanbul. Emine Arslan (born 4 January 1989) is a Turkish kickboxer competing in the full contact 52 kg division. She is a world, Islamic Solidarity Games and European Games kickboxing champion. Sport career Arslan discovered kickboxing at the age of 23 as her younger sister started to attend a new gym, which opened in a local basement. Emine Çaykara (born 1964) is a Turkish women writers, Turkish writer and historian. Born in Istanbul, Turkey, she is a graduate of Istanbul University’s Classical Archeology Faculty. During her studies at Istanbul University she worked at the Ephesus Museum cataloguing ancient sculptures, followed by a two-year participation with an Austrian Archeological Team during their Artemis’ Temple excavation. Emine Ayna, (1 July 1968, Dicle, Diyarbakir, Turkey) is a Kurdish politician. She was a member of the former Democratic Society Party (DTP).
