Emilio Heydrich
Emilio Heydrich Martínez (Cuba 1861 – Barcelona 1947), was a German-Cuban merchant, entrepreneur and landowner, son of Fernando Heydrich Klein and María-Candelaria Martínez y Valdés. Heydrich was married to Antonia Cubero y Casals and their daughter Aida Heydrich was married to the President of the Manufacturers of Cigars and Cigarettes of Cuba, Theodore Garbade. Industry In 1923, he founded the company ''Colores Hispania S.A''. for the supplies of painting products. 1927 he began to produce his own chemical products and supplies and, for which he created his new factory halls in Poblenou in Barcelona. Like most of the factories in Barcelona, his company was confiscated by his workers during the Spanish Civil War, nevertheless he forgave the workers after the war, and continued the company with the same employees until his death in 1947. Fernando Heydrich
Fernando Heydrich Klein (26 January 1827 – April 1, 1903) was a German businessman, politician, engineer and sculptor who lived in Matanzas, Cuba. Builder of the Acueduct of Matanzas he was politically engaged, playing a significant role during the Ten Years' War in Cuba. Married to Maria-Candelaria Martínez y Valdez, he was father of American Consul Alfredo Heydrich and Emilio Heydrich, he is ancestor of the artists Daniel Garbade and Juan Esnard Heydrich. He died 1903 and was laid to rest at the Necropolis San Carlos Borromeo, Matanzas. Aqueduct of Matanzas In 1845, Manuel del Portillo successfully initiated the idea of an aqueduct for the supply of drinking water to Matanzas. Sarrià-Sant Gervasi
Sarrià-Sant Gervasi is one of the biggest districts of Barcelona. It's the district with the highest per capita income, the largest proportion of university degrees and the lowest unemployment rate. Daniel Garbade
Daniel Garbade (born 1957) is a Swiss painter, illustrator, art director, property master, and publisher. Born in Switzerland from Swiss-Cuban origins, Garbade is the grand-nephew of Adrien Lachenal, great-grandchild of Cuban sculptor Fernando Heydrich, grandson of Theodore Garbade and cousin of sculptor Juan Esnard Heydrich. Garbade lived in Spain from 1983–2011, then taking residence in his hometown Zurich, to work with Peyer Fine Art. In 2016 he returned to Spain, living in Mascaraque, Castile- La Mancha. Work Garbade is one of Spanish expressionists, who turned to Pop art during the ''Movida madrileña''. His stroke is personal and minimalistic. Theodore Dietrich Garbade (September 12, 1873 – January 26, 1961) was a merchant and banker, he was President of the Union of Manufacturers of Cigars of Cuba. As a young man he moved from the German Village of Cigarmakers “''Zigarrenmacherdorf'' “Hastedt, Bremen to Cuba where he worked as a leaf buyer for Hermann Dietrich Upmann and his Tobacco Company. He was President of the Union of Manufacturers of Cigars of Cuba, and joined H.Upmann as an associate member and became their partner at the Bank: H. Upmann & Co. till 1917 when he moved to New York. He was Head of the Chamber of Commerce in Cuba in 1917. Theodore Garbade played a significant role in the settlement between Cuba and the United States after, President Wilson succeeded 1913 in passing the Revenue Act, also known as the Tariff Act, or the Underwood Act.
