Ralph Waldo Emerson House
The Ralph Waldo Emerson House is a house museum located at 18 Cambridge Turnpike, Concord, Massachusetts, and a National Historic Landmark for its associations with American philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson. He and his family named the home Bush. The museum is open mid-April to mid-October; an admission fee is charged. History The house was built in 1828 by the Coolidge family and named "Coolidge Castle". It was used as a summer house on the village outskirts, beside the Cambridge and Concord Turnpike. It is a four-square, two-story frame building in a house style common to many New England towns. While Ralph Waldo Emerson was preparing to marry Lydia Jackson (whom he called "Lidian"), he told her he could not live in her home town of Plymouth, Massachusetts. Emerson House (Haverhill, Massachusetts)
The Emerson House is a historic late First Period house in Haverhill, Massachusetts. The oldest part of this -story wood-frame house was built c. 1730, and contains construction features characteristic of the transition between First and Second Period methods. The first part built was the central chimney with the right front rooms, which were followed later by the left side rooms, and then a rear leanto section. The left side was probably built by Nehemiah Emerson, who bought the house in 1787. The house was originally located at the corner of Winter and Pecker Streets, and was moved to its present location in the 1850s. It still retains elements of original Federal period styling. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. Emerson House (Methuen, Massachusetts)
The Emerson House is a historic house located at 58 Ayers Village Road in Methuen, Massachusetts. It is set in a rural corner of northeastern Methuen, near the town line with Haverhill. Description and history It is a -story vernacular wood-frame structure, five bays wide, with a side gable roof, end chimneys, and clapboard siding. Its front facade has a centered entrance, which is topped by a transom window and framed by Greek Revival pilasters and entablature. The bays flanking the entrance are symmetrically placed pairs of small sash windows. This colonial farm house was built in 1750 and remains a well preserved 18th century dwelling and conserves a portion of the original rural landscape. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 20, 1984. Ezekiel Emerson Farm
The Ezekiel Emerson Farm, also known as Apple Hill Farm, is a historic farm property at 936 Brandon Mountain Road (Vermont Route 73) in Rochester, Vermont. Occupying (out of an original ), the farm includes a mid-19th century bank barn and a c. 1920-1940 milk barn that are both well-preserved examples of period agricultural buildings. The house includes a fine example of a Late Victorian porch. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. Description and history The Ezekiel Emerson Farm is located along Vermont Route 73 (Brandon Mountain Road) in a rural area of western Rochester, on the eastern slope of Vermont's Green Mountains.
