Emerson Alejandro Chala
Emerson Alejandro Chala (born 2 August 1991) is an Ecuadorian hurdler competing in the 400 metres hurdles. Chala has represented his country in the Pan American Games, South American Games, Ibero-American Championships, and the Bolivarian Games. In 2013 he was among the top 60 400 metre hurdlers in the world. He also won the Ecuadorian National Games in the 400 metres hurdler event where he set a List of Ecuadorian records in athletics, national record. Track and field (or athletics in British English) is a sport that includes Competition#Sports, athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name used in North America is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking.
