Emdrup Søpark
Emdrup is a neighbourhood straddling the border between the Bispebjerg and Østerbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located between Utterslev Mose in the west and the Helsingør Motorway in the east, just south of the border with Gladsaxe and Gentofte municipalities. Emdrup is a mainly residential neighbourhood, boasting a combination of apartment buildings and areas with single-family detached home. Emdrup station is located on the Farum radial of the S-train system. AU Campus Emdrup, Aarhus University's Copenhagen campus, is situated just north of the station. The most important greenspaces are Lake Emdrup with its small lakeside park in the east, Utterslev Mose in the west and Emdrupparken with sport facilities in the north. Fehmarn
Fehmarn (, da, Femern; from Old Wagrian Slavic "''Fe More''", meaning "''In the Sea''") is an island in the Baltic Sea, off the eastern coast of Germany's northernmost state of Schleswig-Holstein. It is Germany's third-largest island, after Rügen and Usedom. Fehmarn is separated from the German peninsula of Wagria in Holsatia by the Fehmarn Sound, and from the southern Danish island of Lolland by the Fehmarn Belt. It is connected to the Holsatian mainland by the Fehmarn Sound Bridge. The island belongs to the district of Ostholstein (East Holsatia). Søholm (country House)
Søholm is a listed Neoclassical house overlooking Lake Emdrup in Hellerup in northern Copenhagen, Denmark. The current main building and a three-winged , thatched stable on a nearby site were both constructed in 180608 for the Jewish merchant Joseph Nathan David to designs by Christian Frederik Hansen. The main building was listed in the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1918. History Oruguns The first country house on the site was established by cassier in the Danish Asiatic Company Jacob Holm in 1773. Atelierhusene (literally "The Studio Houses"), also known as Kunstnerbyen (literally "The Artists' Town), is a terraced housing development built in the 1940s to provide affordable living and working space for artists in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located on the east side of Utterslev Mose and consists of three terraces, each with 7 houses, surrounding a small green space with a lake. History Atelierhusene were built in the early 1940s under influence of the housing shortage and scarcity of building materials that characterized Copenhagen during the German occupation of Denmark in World War II. The idea for the development was conceived by the sculptors Povl Søndergaard and Johan Galster and the architect Viggo Møller Jensen, who knew each other from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Alliancen
Alliancen (Danish for ''the alliance'') is a Danish association football organisation founded in 1940 by Fremad Amager, HIK, KFUMs Boldklub, B 1908 and ØB. Køge, Brønshøj, Skovshoved IF, Vanløse, Næstved and Esbjerg all joined later. The organisation was originally created in order to let some of the most talented players compete against foreign players, either in Denmark or abroad. Most of the matches played by Alliancen were exhibition matches either against its Danish competitor Stævnet, or against foreign teams, sometimes displaying a common Stævnet/Alliancen team. In one game, Alliancen played in front of 120,000 spectators. When European tournaments were established in the late 1950s, the need for international matches diminished, and the activity of matches against foreign teams was gradually reduced until it completely stopped in the 1970s. Arne Jacobsen
Arne Emil Jacobsen, Hon. FAIA () 11 February 1902 – 24 March 1971) was a Danish architect and furniture designer. He is remembered for his contribution to architectural functionalism and for the worldwide success he enjoyed with simple well-designed chairs. Biography Early life and education Arne Jacobsen was born on 11 February 1902 in Copenhagen. His father Johan was a wholesale trader in safety pins and snap fasteners. His mother Pouline was a bank teller whose hobby was floral motifs. He first hoped to become a painter, but was dissuaded by his mother, who encouraged him to opt instead for the more secure domain of architecture. After a spell as an apprentice mason, Jacobsen was admitted to the Architecture School at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts where from 1924 to 1927 he studied under Kay Fisker and Kaj Gottlob, both leading architects and designers. Danish School of Media and Journalism ( da, Danmarks Medie- og Journalisthøjskole), or DMJX for short, is a Danish organization for higher education in, and a knowledge centre of, media and journalism. Carl Theodor Sørensen
Søren Carl Theodor Marius Sørensen (24 July 1893 in Altona, Hamburg, Germany – 12 September 1979 in Copenhagen, Denmark) was a Danish landscape architect who is considered to be one of the greatest landscape architects of the 20th century. A contemporary of Thomas Church, Geoffrey Jellicoe and Luis Barragán he was a leading figure in the first generation of Modernists in landscape design. He is best known for designing the first Adventure playground (in partnership with Hans Dragehjelm) in Emdrup, Copenhagen. Career Sørensen was a prolific author producing eight books, editing two volumes and writing hundreds of articles. Only one short book has been translated into English and another into German and Dutch. His books covers open space in urban life, horticulture, the history of garden art, principles of garden design, education and autobiography.
