Lawrenceville is a city in and the county seat of Lawrence County, Illinois, United States, located along the Embarras River. The population was 4,348 at the 2010 census. Lawrenceville is located in southeast Illinois, northwest of Vincennes, Indiana. The city is home of the Lawrenceville "Indians", Illinois Class A high school state basketball champions in 1972, 1974, 1982 and 1983. The team had a combined two season win–loss record of 68-0 from 1982 to 1983. The team was coached by Ron Felling, who, after the 1983 season at Lawrenceville, went on to coach at Indiana University as an assistant under Bobby Knight. Villa Grove, Illinois
Villa Grove is a city in Douglas County, Illinois, Douglas County, Illinois, along the Embarras River (Illinois), Embarras River. The population was 2,472 at the 2020 census. History Villa Grove was chartered in 1903 after the area was recognized by the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad (C&EI) as being exactly halfway between Chicago and St. Louis. This made it a desirable location for a steam locomotive repair facility. Villa Grove later became the site of a C&EI division headquarters and Railway roundhouse, roundhouse. Lake Charleston (Illinois)
Lake Charleston is a reservoir in Coles County, Illinois. Served by Illinois Route 130, it is 2 miles (3 km) southeast of the Illinois city of Charleston. Much of the lake is surrounded by city parkland, and a lakeside circular trail is 3.6 miles (6.0 km) in length. Power boats are allowed, but the lake enforces a no-wake rule. There is a fishing pier. The lake is located in Charleston Township and the adjacent Hutton Township. The reservoir is fed by the adjacent Embarras River, which was dammed by engineers to create the reservoir. Crawford County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. As of the 2020 census, the population was 18,679. Its county seat is Robinson. History Crawford County was formed in the Illinois Territory on December 31, 1816, out of Edwards County. At the time of its formation, it encompassed about one third of the territory, but it was reduced to its present borders by 1831 as it spawned new counties. It was named in honor of William H. Crawford, from Georgia, who was serving as Secretary of War and Secretary of the Treasury at the time.
