Emanuele Felice
Emanuele Felice (b. 1977) is an Italian economist and historian, a leading figure in the Italian public debate. He is mostly known for his work, both in scholarly articles and books, about the reconstruction and interpretation of Italy's regional inequality and Southern question, as well as about Italy's long-run economic performance. More recently, he has been working on the historical relationship between economic growth, ethics and politics, and on the historical roots of liberalism and ecologism. He has served as Head of the Economics Department of Italys' Democratic Party during the covid pandemic (2020-2021), then as a consultant of Draghi's government (2021-2022). He has been contributing as editorial writer to La Stampa, La Repubblica,Domani (newspaper). Southern Question
The term southern question () indicates, in Italian historiography, the perception, which developed in the post-unification context, of the situation of persistent backwardness in the socioeconomic development of the regions of southern Italy compared to the other regions of the country, especially the northern ones. First used in 1873 by Lombard radical MP Antonio Billia, meaning the disastrous economic situation of the south of Italy compared to other regions of united Italy, it is sometimes used in common parlance even today. The great southern emigration began only a few decades after the unification of Italy, where in the first half of the 19th century it had already affected several areas in the north, particularly Piedmont, Comacchio and Veneto. Draghi Government
The Draghi government was the 67th government of the Italy, Italian Republic, led by former President of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi. It was in office between 13 February 2021 and 22 October 2022. The Draghi government was formed following the resignation of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte in the midst of a 2021 Italian government crisis, political crisis which led to the Conte II Cabinet, Conte government losing its majority. After consultations with political parties, President of Italy, President Sergio Mattarella tasked Draghi with forming a "high-profile" government.
