Albums of recorded sound were developed in the early 20th century as individual 78 rpm records (78s) collected in a bound book resembling a photo album; this format evolved after 1948 into single vinyl LP record, long-playing (LP) records played at  rpm. The album was the dominant form of recorded music expression and consumption from the mid-1960s to the early 21st century, a period known as the ''album era''. Vinyl LPs are still issued, though album sales in the 21st-century have mostly focused on CD and MP3 formats. The 8-track tape was the first tape format widely used alongside vinyl from 1965 until being phased out by 1983, being gradually supplanted by the cassette tape throughout the 1970s and early 1980s; the popul ...

Dam Vinh Hung
A dam is a barrier that stops or restricts the flow of surface water or underground streams. Reservoirs created by dams not only suppress floods but also provide water for activities such as irrigation, drinking water, human consumption, Industrial water, industrial use, aquaculture, and navigability. Hydropower is often used in conjunction with dams to generate electricity. A dam can also be used to collect or store water which can be evenly distributed between locations. Dams generally serve the primary purpose of retaining water, while other structures such as floodgates or levees (also known as Dike (construction), dikes) are used to manage or prevent water flow into specific land regions. The word ''dam'' can be traced back to Middle English, and before that, from Middle Dutch, as seen in the names of many old cities, such as Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Ancient dams were built in Mesopotamia and the Middle East for water control. The earliest known dam is the Jawa Dam (Jorda ...

All By Myself
"All by Myself" is a song by American singer-songwriter Eric Carmen, released by Arista Records in December 1975 as the first single from Carmen's self-titled debut album. The verse is based on the second movement (''Adagio sostenuto'') of Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff's 1900–01 '' Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor'', Opus 18. The chorus was taken from the song " Let's Pretend", which Carmen had written and recorded with his band the Raspberries in 1972. The slide guitar solo was performed by studio guitarist Hugh McCracken. Background and composition According to Eric Carmen, he first wrote the solo part of the song, writing four bars at a time, eventually completing the interlude after two months. He needed to put this into a song, and after listening to Sergei Rachmaninoff's 2nd piano concerto, a piece famously used to underscore the 1945 British film ''Brief Encounter'', he adapted the melody of its second movement to write the verse. Rachmaninoff's music was in th ...
