Else Kai Sass
Else Kai Sass née Brasen Bjernede (1912–1987) was a Danish art historian. After a period as a custodian at Thorvaldsens Museum, with her appointment as history of art professor at Aarhus University in 1954, she became the third woman in Denmark to hold a professorship. Over the following 25 years she was a key figure in the development of the history of art as a modern academic discipline, becoming a professor at the University of Copenhagen in 1967. Her books include ''Thorvaldsens portrætbuster'', published in three volumes (1963–65) and still considered to be the standard work on the many portrait busts created by Bertel Thorvaldsen. The Comité International d'Histoire de l'Art (CIHA) is an international committee that endeavors to improve art historical research. It was founded in Vienna in 1873 in order to develop the historical and methodological study of artistic activities and productions; to ensure permanent links between art historians of all countries; to improve methods of art historical teaching and research; and to increase the research resources available to art historians, i.e. data bases, bibliographies, photographic and iconographical documentation. It stimulates international meetings of art historians and co-ordinates the dissemination of information about research undertaken under the aegis of the committee. Tibirke Church
Tibirke Church (), originally located in the long-gone village of Tibirke, is a Church of Denmark parish church located close to Tisvildeleje, Gribskov Municipality, some northwest of Copenhagen, Denmark. History The church is first mentioned in around 1210 when the Tithe right was transferred from the Bishops of Roskilde to Æbelholt Abbey. A parish priest is mentioned in 1301. In 1567, Tibirke was home to 16 tithe-paying households. Towards the end of the century, drifting sands began to bury the fields and farms in the area. In 1612, Tibirke Parish was so hit hard by sand drifts that the church was annexed to Vejby. In 1732, Vejby was granted royal permission to provide economic support for the dilapidated Tibirke Church. In 1717, Tibirke Church was almost completely covered by sand and it was under consideration to be torn down and have the building materials shipped off to Greenland.
