Els Poblets
Els Poblets (), also known as ''Setla, Mira-rosa i Miraflor'', is a municipality in the Valencian Community, Spain. It is situated in the north of the province of Alicante. The population is 3,708 (INE 2007). Geography Els Poblets is located in a plain formed by alluvial soils of the Girona river. It spans about 1 km of coastline on the Mediterranean and contains the beach of Almadraba. The municipality is bordered by Denia and El Verger. The average temperature ranges from 11 degrees in January to 25 in July, the average rainfall is 600 mm a year. History Although Els Poblets has its origin in an old farm founded after the Muslim conquest, which was later incorporated into the Christian domain of Dénia, there are remains of older populations. In the Roman site of Almadrava several houses belonging to a pottery were found, along with clay deposits, workshops and rooms for the workers. El Verger
El Verger (; es, Vergel ) is a town of 4,992 inhabitants situated 3 kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea and 8 kilometres from Dénia, in the Comarca of Marina Alta, Valencian Community, Spain. The main attractions are the Main Street, two medieval towers and a neoclassical church. The town's crest, recently resuscitated, pays homage to its name: it displays two trees and four flowers. Dénia
Dénia ( es, Denia) is a historical coastal city in the province of Alicante, Spain, on the Costa Blanca halfway between Alicante and Valencia, and the capital and judicial seat of the ''comarca'' of Marina Alta. Denia's historical heritage has been influenced by Iberian, Greek, Roman, Islamic, Napoleonic and Christian civilizations. , it had a population of 41,672, although this is more than doubled by tourism during the summer months. Morisco
Moriscos (, ; pt, mouriscos ; Spanish for "Moorish") were former Muslims and their descendants whom the Roman Catholic church and the Spanish Crown commanded to convert to Christianity or face compulsory exile after Spain outlawed the open practice of Islam by its sizeable Muslim population (termed '' mudéjar'') in the early 16th century. The Unified Portuguese and Spanish monarchs mistrusted Moriscos and feared that they would prompt new invasions from the Ottoman Empire after the Fall of Constantinople.
