Elpidio F. Barzaga Jr.
Elpidio "Pidi" Frani Barzaga Jr. (March 25, 1950 – April 27, 2024) was a Filipino lawyer and politician. He was the representative of Cavite's 4th district in the House of Representatives of the Philippines from 2010 to 2016 and from 2019 until his death in 2024. This district exclusively covers the city of Dasmariñas and was carved out from the 2nd district, which he represented from 2007 to 2010. In addition to his legislative roles, he served as the mayor of Dasmariñas (1998–2007, 2016–2019). Early life and education Barzaga was born on March 25, 1950 in Dasmariñas, Cavite to Elpidio Barzaga Sr. and Magdalena Gelle Frani. He graduated valedictorian from the Dasmariñas Elementary School in 1962 and from the Immaculate Conception Academy in 1966, achieving top honors in both his elementary and secondary education. 1987 Philippine House Of Representatives Elections
Elections for the House of Representatives in the Philippines were held on May 11, 1987. This was the first legislative election since 1984, the first House of Representatives elections since 1969, and the first election since the People Power Revolution that overthrew president Ferdinand Marcos and brought Corazon Aquino to power after alleged election fraud by the former during the 1986 presidential election against the latter. Although no party surpassed 20% of the popular vote, candidates that ran under two or more parties won a quarter of the seats, followed by PDP–Laban and Lakas ng Bansa of subsequent speaker Ramon Mitra, Jr. that would later be the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino after some of the members of PDP–Laban defected. EDSA Revolution
The People Power Revolution, also known as the EDSA Revolution or the February Revolution, were a series of popular Demonstration (people), demonstrations in the Philippines, mostly in Metro Manila, from February 22 to 25, 1986. There was a sustained campaign of civil resistance against regime violence and electoral fraud. Local elections for governors, vice governors, mayors and vice mayors in the nation's first elections for provincial and municipal officials since the declaration of martial law were held on January 30, 1980.
