Elmar Salulaht
Elmar Salulaht (until 1937 Elmar Soop; 17 April 1910 Tartu – 7 October 1974 Tartu) was an Estonian actor and opera singer (bass). From 1923 to 1936 he worked as a metalworker. He studied singing with Georg Stahlberg. From 1936 to 1939 he was a singer and actor at the Vanemuine theatre in Tartu and from 1939 to 1940 at the Narva Theatre. From 1942 to 1943 he was an actor at the Estonian Theatre and from 1943 to 1974, he returned to the at the Vanemuine. Besides stage roles he also appeared as an actor on films: he played the lead role the feature film ''Põrgupõhja uus Vanapagan'' (1964). Georg Stahlberg
Georg Karl Stahlberg (15 March 1866 Tartu – 6 March 1942 Tartu) is an Estonian opera singer (bass) and music pedagogue. In 1890 he graduated from Tartu University in agriculture. He taught singing in 1894 in St. Petersburg at O. Seffer; in 1895 in Köln at B. Stolzenberg; and from 1896 to 1897 in Venice at Antonio Selva. From 1898 to 1902 he sang at the Hamburg State Opera. In 1902 he returned to Tartu. He became a music pedagogue and also sang in oratorios and operas in Estonia and abroad. From 1922 to 1928 he taught at Tartu Music School. His students included Leenart Neuman, Benno Hansen, Rudolf Jõks, Aarne Viisimaa, Martin Taras, Arno Niitof. Estonian National Opera (''Rahvusooper Estonia'') is the national opera company of Estonia. The company is based at the Estonia Theatre in Tallinn. The theatre has had several names throughout its existence. The latest one being "The Estonian National Opera", which was adopted in 1998. The company produces a lively and varied season which includes operas, ballets and operettas/musicals with over 500 people currently working at the Estonian National Opera.
