Elmalı-2 Dam is a dam in Istanbul, Turkey. The development was backed by the Turkish State Hydraulic Works. Construction on the concrete dam began in 1952, and finished in 1955. It is still in operation. The State Hydraulic Works () is a state agency, under the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of Turkey, responsible for the utilization of all the country's water resources. The institution's four major functions are energy, agriculture, services and environment. The General Manager of DSI is Kaya Yıldız. History Development of water resources in Turkey began with the establishment of the "General Directorate of Public Works" () by the Ottoman Government in 1914.
