Brooke Ellison
Brooke Mackenzie Ellison (October 20, 1978 – February 4, 2024) was an American academic, disability advocate, and the first person with quadriplegia to graduate from Harvard University. Life and career Ellison was born in Rockville Centre, New York, on October 20, 1978, to Edward and Jean (née Derenze) Ellison. On September 4, 1990, at age 11, she was hit by a car while walking home from school, resulting in paralysis from the neck down. Although her injuries left her completely dependent on other people, she graduated from Ward Melville High School in 1996 with high honors, and was accepted to Harvard. She graduated ''magna cum laude'' from Harvard with a bachelor of science in cognitive neuroscience in 2000 and a master's degree in public policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, making her the first quadriplegic to graduate from Harvard. James Ellison (actor)
James Ellison (born James Ellison Smith; May 4, 1910 – December 23, 1993) was an American film actor who appeared in nearly 70 films from 1932 to 1962. Biography Ellison was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa, the son of Edward James Smith and Ona Mary Ellis. He worked for a time in a film laboratory and while there was offered a screen test, after being discovered at Harold Lloyd's Beverly Hills Little Theatre for Professionals. He developed the film footage himself, and after he saw it, decided it was not satisfactory so he would not show it to the director. But the director saw it anyway and Ellison got a contract. He spent much of his career in westerns, including a stint in the mid-1930s as Johnny Nelson, the sidekick of Hopalong Cassidy in Paramount's highly successful series. USS ''Harold J. Ellison'' (DD-864) was a in service with the United States Navy from 1945 to 1983. She was then transferred to Pakistan and renamed ''Shah Jahan'' (D-164). Grace Mary Ellison (13 May 1880 – 3 October 1935) was a British journalist. She wrote several books about Turkey. Though not herself a trained nurse, she was founder of the French Flag Nursing Corps during World War I. Palm Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an Elected Fellow of the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory and American Academy of Arts & Sciences. Frank Cararas Ellison (March 14, 1887 – September 30, 1964) was an American model railroader who created the famous O scale Delta Lines model railroad in New Orleans, Louisiana and authored numerous articles from the 1930s to the 1950s. Mr. Ellison died after a brief illness, at midnight, at Our Lady of The Lake hospital in Baton Rouge. Born in New Orleans, Ellison lived in that city for most of his life until his final years when he lived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with a son. Eileen Ellison (12 December 1910 – 29 July 1967) was a British Grand Prix racer. Born in Great Shelford, Cambridgeshire, she was a daughter of Sidney and Theresa Ellison (formerly Vinter). She had a sister, Diana, and a brother, Tony. Background Due to her brother's interest in motorsport, Ellison became interested in racing in the late 1920s. She befriended a racing driver of the day, Thomas Pitt Cholmondeley-Tapper, and soon began racing herself.
