Ellis Lane
Ellis Lane is a suburb of the Macarthur Region of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia in Camden Council. History The area now known as Ellis Lane was originally home to the Gandangara people of the Southern Highlands although the Muringong, southernmost of the Darug people, were also known to inhabit the area. In 1805, wool pioneer John Macarthur was granted 5,000 acres (20 km2) at Cowpastures (now Camden). Ellis Lane is still primarily a rural locality. Michael Randolph Freelander (born 23 April 1953) is an Australian politician and paediatrician. Freelander has been a paediatrician since 1978, and a member of the Australian Labor Party (ALP). Sally Anne Quinnell is an Australian politician. She was elected a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing Camden for the Labor Party since 2023. Career Quinnell worked for fifteen years as a music teacher in the Camden area. She had been a union representative and secretary of the Independent Education Union's Lansdowne sub-branch. John Macarthur (wool Pioneer)
John Macarthur (1767 – 11 April 1834) was instrumental in agitating for, and organising, a rebellion against Governor William Bligh (now known as the Rum Rebellion) in January 1808. The Dharug or Darug people, are a nation of Aboriginal Australian clans, who share ties of kinship, country and culture.
