Ellis Drive Historical Area
The Ellis Drive Historical Area is an older section of the UMass Amherst containing many of the university's earliest laboratory buildings. Several of these buildings have since been converted for other uses, but research still continues in many of them to this day. Abigail Adams House
Abigail () was an Israelite woman in the Hebrew Bible married to Nabal; she married the future King David after Nabal's death (1 Samuel ). Abigail was David's second wife, after Saul and Ahinoam's daughter, Michal, whom Saul later married to Palti, son of Laish, when David went into hiding. Flint Laboratory
Flint Laboratory is an academic building and a former dairy laboratory at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. It was the first building of the Ellis Drive "agricultural group", including Stockbridge Hall and an unbuilt hall for agricultural mechanics.MAC Annual Report, March 1912 pp. 25-26. Draper Hall Annex
The Draper Hall Annex is a single-story office building which houses emergency medical services at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The building is adjoined to Draper Hall, and has served as an office space, classroom, and at one time, home to the university's polymer science research. History After the second World War, UMass received an influx of applicants due to financial aid from the G.I. Bill, and in order to accommodate the growing number of students, the university had to undergo a rapid expansion in a relatively short period of time. The Draper Annex was constructed in 1947 as a result of this demand, and for a number of years would serve as additional classroom and office space for university's the business and agricultural departments.
