Ellen Christoffersen
Ellen Sharpe Christoffersen (née Kristensen; born 17 March 1972) is a Greenlandic politician and member of the Atassut party. Biography Ellen Kristensen was born on 17 March 1972 in Ikerasak, the illegitimate daughter of teacher Knud Scharf and Birgithe Kristensen († 1989). Christoffersen graduated from the Danish folkeskole school system in 1988. From 1993 to 1996, she completed commercial and office training. She was the head of the Atassut youth organization. In 1997 she was elected to the Nuuk Municipality Council. In the 1998 Danish general election, at the age of 25, she ran in the Folketing election and won, ousting , who had been a member of the Folketing since 1977. In the 2001 Danish general election, she appeared again, but the Atassut lost her place. She then ran for parliament in 2002 and was able to move into the Inatsisartut. Ikerasak
Ikerasak () is a village in the Avannaata municipality in western Greenland. It had 233 inhabitants in 2020. Geography Ikerasak is located approximately 45 km southeast from Uummannaq, at the southeastern end of Ikerasak Island in the northwestern part of Ikerasak Fjord, where it widens into the inner part of Uummannaq Fjord. The location at the heart of the Uummannaq ice fjord provides good fishing and catching opportunities both in summer and winter for seals, halibut, catfish, reindeer and musk oxen. Infrastructure Ikerasak has a school with approximately 50 students, a shop, a community center, a medical clinic, a fish factory, a children's institution, and a retirement home with 3-4 beds. Atassut (, also referred to as Feeling of Community) is a liberal-conservative and unionist political party in Greenland. Founded on 29 April 1978, Atassut is an established partner of Venstre. History Atassut was established in late 1976 as a political movement of conservative and unionist forces in Greenland to oppose Siumut with Lars Chemnitz as its leading figure; however, it soon became more liberal. Its first programme from January 1977 stated that its purpose was to "promote Greenlandic home rule within the Unity of the Realm" and "work against secession from the Danish realm." Sermersooq () is a municipality in Greenland, formed on 1 January 2009 from five previous, smaller municipalities. University College of Northern Denmark () were formed under the Danish act on university colleges for higher education, which was adopted by the Danish parliament in 2007. Today, the sector is composed of six university colleges. Formally, UCN has existed since 3 July, 2007 and is a merger between a number of educational institutions. Avannaata (, ) is a municipality of Greenland created on 1 January 2018 from the bulk of the former Qaasuitsup municipality. It encompasses an area of 522,700 km2 and has 10,726 inhabitants. Geography In the south, Avannaata is flanked by the Qeqertalik municipality. In the southeast, it is bordered by the Sermersooq municipality; the border runs north–south ( 45° West meridian) through the center of the Greenland ice sheet (), so is free of traffic.
