Ellembelle District
Ellembelle District is one of the fourteen districts in Western Region, Ghana, Western Region, Ghana. Originally it was part of the then-larger Nzema East District in 1988, which was created from the former Nzema District Council, until the western part of the district was split off by a decree of then-president John Agyekum Kufuor on 29 February 2008 to create Ellembelle District; thus the remaining part has been retained as Nzema East District (which it was later elevated to municipal district assembly status on that same year to become Nzema East Municipal District). The district assembly is located in the southwest part of Western Region and has Nkroful as its capital town. Districts Of Ghana
The Districts of Ghana are second-level administrative subdivisions of Ghana, below the level of Regions of Ghana, region. There are currently 261 local metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (or MMDA's). History The districts of Ghana were re-organized in 1988/1989 in an attempt to decentralize the government and to assist in development. The reform of the late 1980s subdivided the regions of Ghana into 110 districts, where local district assemblies should deal with the local administration. By 2006, an additional 28 districts were created by splitting some of the original 110, bringing their number up to 138. In February 2008, there were more districts created and some were upgraded to municipal status. This brought the final number to 170 districts in Ghana. Since then, a further 46 districts have been added since 28 June 2012 bringing the total to 216 districts. Ainyinase
Aiyinase (Nzema Aiyinase) is a town in the Ellembele District in the Western Region of Ghana. It lies 90 kilometers of Sekondi - Takoradi, the port and capital city of Western Region. In 2015, the community had a population of 10,719. Economy Aiyinase is an area well known for their coconut, cassava and rubber plantations. Basically, the main occupation of the people in the locality are farmers. Culture and history Aiyinase (Enyenra bo) literally means “Under the Silk Tree" in Nzema language. John Agyekum Kufuor
John Kofi Agyekum Kufuor (born 8 December 1938) is a Ghanaian politician who served as the tenth president of Ghana from 2001 to 2009. He was the fifth chairperson of the African Union from 2007 to 2008 and his victory over John Atta Mills at the end of Jerry Rawlings' second term marked the first transition of power in Ghana from a democratic party to another democratic party.
