Norrtälje Municipality
Norrtälje Municipality () is a municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. Its seat is located in the stad (Sweden), city of Norrtälje. It is the largest and northernmost municipality of Stockholm County and was created in 1971 through the amalgamation of several former municipalities. There are 25 original local government units (as of 1863) combined in the present municipality. Since the municipality was formed in 1971, the population has grown almost every year. With the exception of the mandate period 2014–2018, Norrtälje has had a non-socialistic municipal government since 2010. Many of the houses in Norrtälje municipality are summer cottages, only inhabited during summertime. Singö (island)
Singö Is an island located in the north of Stockholm County, close to the border of Uppsala County. The island has around 400 inhabitants and is around 25 km² big, making it the 36th largest island in Sweden by size. Söderby, Backby, Tranvik, Ellan, Norrvreta and Boda are the villages located on Singö, the closest village with over 200 inhabitants is however Grisslehamn on Väddö. Norrtälje
Norrtälje is a locality and the seat of Norrtälje Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden with 17,275 inhabitants in 2010. It is one of the largest towns in Roslagen. History Norrtälje’s early history dates back to the Iron Age. Around 225 ancient monuments have been found within what is now the city. Three ancient castles are assumed to have stood in the former villages Nordrona, Solbacka and Knutby. Norrtälje traces its more recent history to 1219, when the location was first mentioned as Tälje.
