Elkhart Central High School (ECHS) was a public secondary school in Elkhart, Indiana. It was a part of Elkhart Community Schools. History In the fall of 1972 when Elkhart High School (est. 1872) was split into Elkhart Memorial High School and Elkhart Central High School, the former Elkhart High School building was renamed Elkhart Central High School and, according to the school board minutes, was to continue the traditions ("Blue Blazer" mascot, school colors, accomplishments, the original 1910 charter issued by the North Central Association and the fight song) of the old Elkhart High School. The Elkhart Central High School building was designed and built by Everett I. Brown and Company of Indianapolis and opened in 1966. Elkhart ( ) is a city in Elkhart County, Indiana, United States. The population was 53,923 at the 2020 census. The city is located east of South Bend, Indiana. Ben Larson
Ben Larson (born ) is an American former college basketball player. A native of Elkhart, Indiana, Larson played NCAA Division I basketball at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly) from 1995 to 1999, where as a true freshman he was named the American West Conference Player of the Year. The 1995–96 season saw him average career highs of 12.8 points, 5.2 assists, 3.4 steals, and 2.7 rebounds per game. He led the American West in assists and steals per game in guiding the Mustangs to win the regular season championship. Despite being named as the league's player and freshman of the year, Larson was not named to an all-conference squad. After Larson's freshman season, the American West Conference disbanded. Nathan D. Palmer (born April 14, 1989) is a former American football coach and former wide receiver. He is the Passing Game Coordinator and Wide Receivers coach at Elkhart High School. Alec Purdie (born November 24, 1988) is an American soccer player who most recently played for New England Revolution in Major League Soccer.
