Eliška Junková
Eliška Junková-Khásová (born Alžběta Pospíšilová; 16 November 1900 – 5 January 1994), also known as Elisabeth Junek, was a Czech automobile racer. She is regarded as one of the most significant drivers in Grand Prix motor racing history, and was the first woman to win a Grand Prix event. Early life Junková was born on 16 November 1900, in Olomouc, Moravia, Austria-Hungary listed in the registrar's office as Bětka ("Betty") Pospíšilová. The sixth of eight children, born to a locksmith in Olomouc, she was nicknamed ''smíšek'' at an early age for her ever-present smile. Following the end of World War I, when her native Moravia became part of the new republic of Czechoslovakia, she found work in the Olomouc branch of the Pražská úvěrová banka (Prague Credit Bank) thanks to her multilingual skills, honed through her desire to travel the world. Eliška Krásnohorská
Eliška Krásnohorská (18 November 1847, in Prague – 26 November 1926, in Prague) was a Czech feminist author. She was introduced to literature and feminism by Karolína Světlá. She wrote works of lyric poetry and literary criticism, however, she is usually associated with children's literature and translations, including works by Pushkin, Mickiewicz and Byron. Krásnohorská wrote the libretti for four operas by Bedřich Smetana: '' The Kiss'', '' The Secret'', '' The Devil's Wall'' and ''Viola''. She also wrote the libretto for Zdeněk Fibich's opera ''Blaník''. In 1873, she founded the women's magazine '' Ženské listy'', which she headed until handing it over to Jindřiška Flajšhansová in 1912. In 1890 Krásnohorská founded the Minerva School in Prague, the first '' gymnasium'' for girls in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Miss Universe 2008 was the 57th Miss Universe pageant, held at the Crown Convention Center in Nha Trang, Vietnam on July 14, 2008. This was the first time that the Miss Universe pageant was broadcast in 1080i High-definition television, High-definition. At the end of the event, Riyo Mori of Japan crowned Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela as Miss Universe 2008. It was Venezuela's first victory in twelve years, and the fifth victory of the country in the pageant's history. Contestants from eighty countries and territories competed in this year's pageant. The Miss Universe Czechia () is a national beauty pageant in the Czech Republic. The pageant was founded in 2005, where the winners were sent to Miss Universe. History The Czech Miss was established in 2005 and is organized and produced by Michaela Maláčová, Miss Czechoslovakia, Miss Czechoslovakia 1991 and director of Miss Marketing s.r.o. From 2005 to 2009, the pageant selected a winner to represent the country in Miss Universe, and a first runner up participated in the Miss Earth pageant.
