Elizaveta Pletneva (born January 21, 2002) is a Russian-born American group rhythmic gymnast who represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Personal life Pletneva and her family moved to the United States when she was three years old. She began rhythmic gymnastics when she was five years old. Career Pletneva competed at the 2018 World Championships where the American group finished fourteenth in the all-around. Then at the 2018 Pan American Championships in Lima, she won the silver medal in both the group all-around and the 3 balls + 2 ropes event final, both behind Mexico. Pletneva competed at the 2019 Pan American Games and won the silver medal in the group all-around and in the 5 balls event final, both times finishing behind Mexico. 2019 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships
The 2019 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships was held in Baku, Azerbaijan from 16 September to 22 September 2019. The competition took place at the National Gymnastics Arena and served as a qualifier to the 2020 Olympic Games. There were Olympic berths awarded to 16 individuals and 5 groups. There were 301 participating athletes from 61 countries. Dina Averina from Russia won gold medals in ball, clubs, and ribbon, and Ekaterina Selezneva won the hoop title. Averina, Selezneva and Arina Averina won Russia's tenth consecutive World team title. In the all-around finals, Dina Averina won her third consecutive World all-around title, becoming the fifth rhythmic gymnast to do so. The Russian group then won their fourth consecutive all-around title, and Japan matched their best-ever result with the silver medal. The Women's rhythmic group all-around competition at the 2020 Summer Olympics were held at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre in Tokyo, Japan, with the qualification taking place at 7 August and the final on 8 August. Russian rhythmic gymnasts were the five-time defending champions in the event. Competition format The competition consisted of a qualification round and a final round. The top eight teams in the qualification round advance to the final round. In each round, the teams perform two routines (one with 5 balls, one with 3 hoops and 2 pairs of clubs), with the scores added to give a total. Nicole Sladkov (born November 2, 1999) is an American group rhythmic gymnast who represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Career Sladkov began rhythmic gymnastics because her mother is a coach. She competed as a junior at the 2014 Pacific Rim Championships and won a silver medal in the group all-around and in 5 clubs and a bronze medal in 5 hoops. Sladkov competed with the senior U.S. group at the 2017 World Championships and finished twelfth in the group all-around. At the 2017 Pan American Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida, she won the gold medal in the 5 hoops and silver medals in the group all-around and 3 balls + 2 ropes, both behind Brazil. Lili Mizuno
Lili Mizuno (born February 4, 2001) is an American rhythmic gymnast. She is the Pan American Championships 2021 Group All-around bronze medalist and 2017 All-around silver medalist. She competed in the group all-around at the 2020 Summer Olympics, finishing eleventh in qualification. Gymnastics career Junior Mizuno began training in rhythmic gymnastics when she was eight years old, after an artistic gymnastics coach suggested it. She initially trained at Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy East Bay in California. Mizuno joined the junior national team in 2015. In 2016, she moved from California to Illinois to train at North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center. In February 2016 she made her international debut at the Alina Cup in Moscow, finishing fourth in clubs with a score of 15.400. Camilla Feeley (born November 14, 1999) is an American individual and Olympic group rhythmic gymnast. She won a total of four medals at the 2019 Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru. In 2016, she won two gold medals and three silver medals at the Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships held in Everett, United States. Isabelle Connor (born July 22, 2000) is an American group rhythmic gymnast who represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She was the first student at the University of California, Santa Cruz to compete at the Olympics. Personal life Connor was born on July 22, 2000, and her hometown is Manhattan Beach, California. She began artistic gymnastics when she was two years old, and she switched to rhythmic gymnastics when she was ten at the suggestion of her coaches. In 2017, she moved to Chicago to train with the U.S. national rhythmic gymnastics group. She was a student at Mira Costa High School, but she finished her senior year in homeschool after moving. She is currently a student at the University of California, Santa Cruz studying astronomy and astrophysics. She speaks both English and Russian. This article describes the qualifying phase for gymnastics at the 2020 Summer Olympics . The qualification system underwent a significant revision following the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. The team events in artistic gymnastics will be reduced from five members to four, but a maximum of two further places will be available for competitors in individual events, in principle allowing one or two athletes per National Olympic Committee (NOC) to enter as specialists.
