Elise Matthysen
Elise Matthysen (born 13 July 1992 in Kalmthout) is a retired Belgian swimmer who specialised in breaststroke. During the 2008 European Aquatics Championships she came 4th in the final of the 100 m breaststroke in which she broke the national record of Brigitte Becue. Kalmthout () is a municipality in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the villages of Kalmthout, Achterbroek, Heide, and Nieuwmoer. Breaststroke
Breaststroke is a swimming style in which the swimmer is on their chest and the torso does not rotate. It is the most popular recreational style due to the swimmer's head being out of the water a large portion of the time, and that it can be swum comfortably at slow speeds. 2008 European Aquatics Championships
The 2008 LEN European Aquatics Championships were held in Eindhoven, Netherlands, from 13–24 March 2008. Brigitte Becue
Brigitte Becue (born 18 September 1972 in Ostend) is a retired breaststroke and medley swimmer from Belgium, who competed for her native country at four consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in Swimming at the 1988 Summer Olympics, 1988. In 1989, she won the silver medal in the women's 200 metres breaststroke at the 1989 European Aquatics Championships, European Aquatics Championships in Bonn, West Germany. Becue reached her highest peak at the 1995 European Aquatics Championships in Vienna, where she won three medals (two gold, one silver). She twice was named Belgian Sportsman of the year, Belgian Sportswoman of the Year (1994 and 1995). Becue finished 10th overall in the 2007 Dakar Rally as co-driver of Stéphane Henrard.
