Elisabetta Querini (November 12, 1628 in Venice – January 19, 1709 in Venice) was the Dogaressa of Venice by marriage to the Doge Silvestro Valier (r. 1694–1700). Early life Elisabetta was born as the daughter of the procurator Paolo Querini of the Stampalia branch of the family and his wife Bianca Ruzzini, from whose family the Doge Carlo Ruzzini emerged. The Querini family lived in a palace near Santa Maria Formosa, now the headquarters of the Fondazione Querini Stampaglia. In addition to 10 houses near the family palace, Elisabetta owned land near Padua, in Polesine and near Verona, as well as a foundry near Mira. Elisabetta Vendramini (9 April 1790 – 2 April 1860) was an Italian Franciscan tertiary who established the Elizabethan Sisters in 1830 in Padua. Her beatification was celebrated on 4 November 1990. Life Elisabetta Vendramini was born on 9 April 1790 in Vicenza. She was educated in an Augustinian convent as a child and received her religious upbringing from both them and from her parents. In 1811 she became engaged – despite parental objection – to a man of humble origins from Ferrara. She broke off this engagement on the night before her wedding in 1817 because she felt a clear and concise call to the religious life so that she could devote herself to the needs of the poor. Elisabetta Trenta (born 4 June 1967) is an Italian politician who served as the Italian Minister of Defence in the Conte I Cabinet. Biography In 1994, Trenta graduated in political science at La Sapienza University of Rome. She also had a master's in International Development and a master's in intelligence and security. She worked as an adviser for the mission Ancient Babylon for the Italian Ministry of Defence, and senior expert in the task force in Iraq for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Elisabetta Terabust (5 August 1946 – 5 February 2018) was an Italian ballerina and company director. She trained at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma and worked for the London Festival Ballet (now the English National Ballet) and the Ballet National de Marseille. She was one of the first women artists in early modern Bologna, who became a successful painter, producing public altarpieces as well as privately commissioned pictures. Donna Elisabetta Fabrizievna ''dei duchi'' di Sasso-Ruffo ''dei principi'' di Sant' Antimo (26 December 1886 – 29 October 1940), known after her marriage as Princess Andrew of Russia or Princess Andrei Romanovskya, was a Russian aristocrat. She was the daughter of the exiled Italian nobleman Frabrizio Ruffo, Duke of Sasso-Ruffo and the Russian noblewoman Princess Natalia Alexandrovna Mescherskaya. She married, firstly, to Imperial Russian military officer Major General Alexander Alexandrovitch Friederici and, secondly, to Prince Andrei Alexandrovich of Russia. When she married Prince Andrei, it was the last royal wedding to take place in Russia until 2021. Elisabetta Sanna (full name ''Elisabetta Sanna Porcu'') (23 April 1788 – 17 February 1857) was an Italian Roman Catholic from Codrongianos Province of Sassari who was an active member of both the Secular Franciscan Order and the Union of the Catholic Apostolate. In the latter she was a friend and compatriot of Vincent Pallotti. As a result of smallpox, Sanna was for the most part disabled and further ailments prevented her from returning to her hometown after departing on a pilgrimage; this forced her to take up residence in Rome where she later died. Sanna married and bore seven children but was widowed after almost two decades of marriage. Pope Francis proclaimed her to be Venerable in 2014 after determining that she lived a model Christian life of heroic virtue. Elisabetta Grimani (died August 31, 1792) was the last Dogaressa of Venice by marriage to the Doge Ludovico Manin ( 1789–1797). Biography Elisabetta Grimani was the daughter of Antonio Grimani. She married Ludovico Manin on 14 September 1748. A contemporary description of her during the election of her spouse to Doge of Venice in 1789 related, "The triumph of the Doge must be somewhat dampened by his wife, who, by some womanish singularity, is not pleased at becoming Dogaressa. She would not appear at any of the feasts, but has hidden herself, according to some, at Murano, others say she has taken refuge in her steward's house!" Grimani was described as modest and simple.
