Elisabetta Perrone
Elisabetta Perrone (born 9 July 1968) is a former race walker from Italy who won eighteen medals, eight of these at senior level, at the International athletics competitions. Biography Elisabetta Perrone won six medals, at individual level, at the International athletics competitions. She participated at four editions of the Summer Olympics (1992, 1996, 2000, 2004), she has 39 caps in sixteen years in national team from 1981 to 2004. Race Walk
Racewalking, or race walking, is a long-distance discipline within the sport of athletics. Although a foot race, it is different from running in that one foot must appear to be in contact with the ground at all times. Race judges carefully assess that this is maintained throughout the race. Typically held on either roads or running tracks, common distances range from up to 100 kilometres (62.1 mi). There are two racewalking distances contested at the Summer Olympics: the 20 kilometres race walk (men and women) and 50 kilometres race walk (men only). Both are held as road events. The biennial World Athletics Championships also featured these two events, in addition to a 50 km walk for women, until 2019. 2001 World Championships In Athletics
The 8th World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations, were held at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada between 3 August and 12 August and was the first time the event had visited North America. The music for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies was composed by Canadian composers Jan Randall and Cassius Khan. The ceremonies also featured a 1000 voice choir, and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Edmonton defeated bids from Paris, France (which hosted the next edition) and the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States to host the event. 5000 M Race Walk
The 5000 metres race walk is a racewalking event. The event is competed as a track race and was part of the athletics programme for men at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics until 1993. It is also an event in the World Masters Athletics Championships, and is a World record event. Athletes must always keep in contact with the ground and the supporting leg must remain straight until the raised leg passes it. 5000 meters is 3.11 miles. World records IAAF just ratified world records for men's indoor marks. On February 14, 1995, Mikhail Shchennikov of Russia set the 5,000 m race walk world indoor record in Moscow in a time of 18:07.08. The faster all-time men's best outdoor mark is held by Hatem Ghoula of Tunisia, at 18:05.49. Eleonora Anna Giorgi (born 14 September 1989) is an Italian race walker bronze medal at the 2019 World Athletics Championships. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in 20 km walk. She is the 5000 metres race walk (outdoor, track) world record holder with the time of 20:01.80 sets on 18 May 2014 in Misterbianco. Biography On 9 June 2012 in A Coruña, one leg of IAAF Race Walking Gran Prix 2012 she obtained the "standard A" for 2012 Summer Olympics, on 13 March at the 2012 IAAF World Race Walking Cup in Saransk (Russia) she ranked 14th, matching the other FIDAL requirement (classify among the first 20 athletes) for FIDAL). 20 Km Race Walk
The 20 kilometre race walk is an Olympic athletics event that is competed by both men and women. The racewalking event is competed as a road race. Athletes must always keep in contact with the ground and the supporting leg must remain straight until the raised leg passes it. World records The men's world record for the 20 km race walk is held by Yusuke Suzuki, who walked 1:16:36 at the Asian Race Walking Championships in his home town of Nomi, Japan. Suzuki's new World Record came exactly one week after Yohann Diniz's mark who walked a then record time of 1:17:02 in Arles at the 2015 French championships.
