Elisabeth Gössmann
Maria Elisabeth Gössmann née Placke (21 June 1928, Osnabrück; — 1 May 2019, Munich) was a German Catholic theology, Roman Catholic theologian and prominent representative of feminist theology within the Roman Catholic Church. She saw herself as a representative of "historical women's studies in theology". Life After leaving school in 1947, Elisabeth Gössmann studied Catholic theology, philosophy and German studies at Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität, Münster and passed her state examination in 1952. She studied under Michael Schmaus at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, München. She was more interested in "the alternative", namely the theological drafts of early scholasticism and more in the Franciscan (OFM), Franciscan than the Dominican Order, Dominican line. She received her doctorate there in 1954 (at the same time as her fellow students Benedict XVI, Joseph Ratzinger and Uta Ranke-Heinemann). Osnabrück (; ; archaic English: ''Osnaburg'') is a city in Lower Saxony in western Germany. It is situated on the river Hase in a valley penned between the Wiehen Hills and the northern tip of the Teutoburg Forest. With a population of 168,145 Osnabrück is the fourth largest city in Lower Saxony. More recently Osnabrück has become well known for its industry.
