Elisabeth Johanna Auguste Busse-Wilson, née ''Wilson'', (19 February 1890 in Sondershausen – 11 November 1974 in Oberursel (Taunus), Oberursel, Taunus) was a German historian. She was one of the first generation of German women to receive a university education. Biography Elisabeth Wilson was the daughter of a senior judicial officer; her mother had trained as a teacher. She grew up in Frauensee. She attended a girls' secondary school in Erfurt until the age of 15 and a grammar school from 1905. In 1909, she took her Abitur—as was customary at the time—as an , which was so difficult that in later years she still described it as her "greatest achievement".Großmann, ''Akademiker'', p. 61. Sondershausen
Sondershausen () is a town in Thuringia, central Germany, capital of the Kyffhäuserkreis district, situated about 50 km (30 mi) north of Erfurt. On 1 December 2007, the former municipality Schernberg was merged with Sondershausen. Until 1918 it was part of the principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen. Geography Sondershausen is situated in North Thuringia and lies in a low mountain range between Hainleite (in the north) and Windleite (in the south). The highest mountain is the Frauenberg to the west of the town. A little river called Wipper flows through Sondershausen. The town is surrounded by mixed forests, dominated by beech.
