Elisa Spiropali
Elisa Spiropali (born 15 March 1983) is an Albanian politician who is currently serving as the Speaker of the Parliament of Albania, since July 2024. Early life Elisa Spiropali was born on 15 March 1983 in Tirana. She attended the Qemal Stafa Gymnasium where she earned a scholarship from the United World Colleges as one of the top five high school students in Albania and later received a diploma at the Lester B. Pearson College in Vancouver Island, Canada. She continued her education by enrolling at the Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, United States where she graduated in 2005 with an honorary degree in two branches, Politics and Economics. Elisa has travelled and studied merit scholarships to countries such as Argentina and the United Kingdom, experiences she considers invaluable in her academic formation. The speaker of the Parliament of Albania () is the presiding officer of the Parliament of Albania whose term coincides with the term of the Parliament and are elected by a vote during the opening session. The speaker takes over the functions of the office of president when the president is temporarily absent or unable to exercise the powers of the presidency. Since the first multi-party elections held after the collapse of the Communist rule, there have been nine speakers of the Parliament. Parliamentary elections were held in Albania on 23 June 2013. The result was a victory for the Alliance for a European Albania led by the Socialist Party and its leader, Edi Rama. Incumbent Prime Minister Sali Berisha of the Democratic Party-led Alliance for Employment, Prosperity and Integration conceded defeat on 26 June.
