Elis Eriksson
Elis Ernst Eriksson (22 August 1906 – 4 January 2006) was a Swedish artist, sculptor and writer. He was born in Stockholm and studied there at the Royal University College of Fine Arts in 1934–1939. He had his first solo exhibition in 1959. His work is commonly described as experimental or anarchic, stylistically akin to Dadaist art. Elis or Ilia ( el, Ηλεία, ''Ileia'') is a historic region in the western part of the Peloponnese peninsula of Greece. It is administered as a regional unit of the modern region of Western Greece. Its capital is Pyrgos. Until 2011 it was Elis Prefecture, covering the same territory. The modern regional unit is nearly coterminous with the ancient Elis of the classical period. Here lie the ancient ruins of cities of Elis, Epitalion and Olympia, known for the ancient Olympic Games which started in 776 BC. The Prince Eugen Medal ( sv, Prins Eugen-medaljen) is a medal conferred by the King of Sweden for "outstanding artistic achievement".
