Elin McCready
Elin McCready is an American linguist and professor in the Department of English Language and Literature at Aoyama Gakuin University. She researches semantics, pragmatics, and philosophy of language, focusing in particular on phenomena like evidentials, honorifics, and slurs. She is also co-director of Aoyama Gakuin University's Singularity Research Institute. Academic career McCready earned a PhD at the University of Texas-Austin in 2005, with a dissertation entitled, "The dynamics of particles." Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people in Japan face legal challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents, although the social component is more reliable than in many Asian countries. Recognition Of Same-sex Unions In Japan
Japan does not recognize same-sex marriages or civil unions. It is the only country in the Group of Seven, G7 that does not legally recognize same-sex unions in any form. Same-sex marriage, also known as gay marriage, is the marriage of two people of the same sex or gender. marriage between same-sex couples is legally performed and recognized in 33 countries, with the most recent being Mexico, constituting some 1.35 billion people (17% of the world's population).
