Elias Shoufani
Elias Shoufani (; 1932–26 January 2013) was a Palestinian author and historian whose studies were mostly about the history of Islam and the Israeli affairs. He was one of the leading Arab scholars in the latter topic. He was a member of the Fatah movement until 1983 when he joined the dissident group in Damascus, becoming part of the Fatah upraising. Early life and education Shoufani was born in Mi'ilya in the Galilee in 1932. His father, Shukri, was a community leader in Mi'ilya which was a Christian Arab village. Elias had two brothers, Naim and Muhanna. The family owned a flour mill in the Wadi al-Qarn stream. Their home in Mi'ilya was demolished by the Israel Defense Forces in 1948. The Israeli soldiers killed Nimr, the dog of the family, who was trying to protect the house. Elias and his family had to leave Mi'ilya after this incident on 30 October 1948. Mi'ilya
Mi'ilya (, ), also called Mi'elya, is an Arab local council in the western Galilee in the Northern District of Israel. Its name during the Kingdom of Jerusalem era in Galilee was Castellum Regis. In it had a population of , all of whom are Melkite Greek Catholics. The town is located immediately to the northwest of Ma'alot-Tarshiha. History Archaeological excavations in Mi'ilya gives indication of inhabitation from the Late Bronze Age and Iron Age, as well as Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Crusader, Mamluk and Ottoman periods. Remains include a mosaic carpet with a Greek inscription, dating from the fifth or early sixth century CE. Hebrew (; ''ʿÎbrit'') is a Northwest Semitic language within the Afroasiatic language family. A regional dialect of the Canaanite languages, it was natively spoken by the Israelites and remained in regular use as a first language until after 200 CE and as the liturgical language of Judaism (since the Second Temple period) and Samaritanism. The language was revived as a spoken language in the 19th century, and is the only successful large-scale example of linguistic revival. The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF, ) was the largest film festival in the Arab world, Arab region. Hind Shoufani
Hind Shoufani (Arabic:هند شوفاني) is a poet, director, and producer. Career Born 1978 in Lebanon and raised in Damascus and Amman, Shoufani has remained a refugee. She currently resides in the Middle East, but has traveled and lived in many cities. Both of her parents are Palestinian activists. Her father, Elias Shoufani, went to Princeton and served as a Palestine Liberation Organization leader and politician. He was also an author who wrote over twenty-five publications. Her mother is an American citizen with an English Literature degree. Shoufani began her education at the Lebanese American University in Beirut where she studied communicative arts. Later she received a Fulbright scholarship to attend NYU in New York where she received a Master of Fine Arts degree in filmmaking.
