Elias Baysari
Elias Bayssari (; born 4 December 1964) is a Lebanese major general who currently serves as the acting general director of the General Directorate of General Security. Early life and education Elias Baysarri was born in 1964 to a Maronite family from Haouch Hala. He joined the army in 1986 after studying at the military academy. In 1995, he took up a post in Beirut’s intelligence services and then served in the army’s intelligence service. Baysarri obtained a bachelors degree in law at the Lebanese University and obtained a masters and PhD in the same field. Career In 2000, he was assigned to the office of the president of the republic during Emile Lahoud’s tenure until 2004 where he was also temporary assigned to the Interior Ministry in 2004 and then to the Defense Ministry in 2005 under Elias Murr where they became close companions. General Directorate Of General Security
The General Security Directorate () is a Lebanon, Lebanese intelligence agency founded on July 21, 1921 and originally known as the "first bureau". On June 12, 1959, Decree-Law No. 139, in force from that date, was published. Under this decree the General Security becomes a branch depending on the power of the minister of interior and headed by a director general, as president. On December 16, 1959, Organizational Decree No. 2873 was published. It establishes a regional organization of general security and creates more branch, regional departments, border, maritime and air. Lebanese Maronites
Lebanese Maronite Christians (; ) refers to Lebanese people who are members of the Maronite Church in Lebanon, the largest Christian body in the country. The Lebanese Maronite population is concentrated mainly in Mount Lebanon and East Beirut. They are believed to constitute about 30% of the total population of Lebanon. The Maronites and the Druze founded modern Lebanon in the early eighteenth century through the ruling and social system known as the " Maronite–Druze dualism." The 1860 Druze–Maronite conflict led to the establishment of Mount Lebanon Mutasarrifate, an autonomous entity within the Ottoman Empire dominated by Maronites and protected by European powers. Amal Movement
The Amal Movement () is a Lebanese political party and militia affiliated mainly with the Shia community of Lebanon. It was founded by Musa al-Sadr and Hussein el-Husseini in 1974 as the "Movement of the Deprived." The party has been led by Nabih Berri since 1980. The Amal movement gained attention from Shia outcry after the disappearance of Musa al-Sadr and saw a renewal in popularity after Israel's invasion of Lebanon in 1978. The Iranian Revolution of 1978–79 also provided momentum for the party. The Amal Movement is the largest predominantly Shia party in parliament, having fourteen representatives to Hezbollah's thirteen. Amal has an alliance with Hezbollah. Abbas Ibrahim (; born 2 March 1959) is a Lebanese major general who was the Director General of the General Directorate of General Security from 18 July 2011 until 1 March 2023. Early life Abbas Ibrahim was born on 2 March 1959. He hails from the town of Kawthariyet al-Sayyad, Sidon District in Southern Lebanon. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in military science and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Career At the age of nineteen, he enrolled in military school and graduated three years later with the rank of lieutenant. Throughout the 1980s, he took part in several training courses in the military, culminating in an infantry course in the United States in 1989.
