Eli Janney (musician)
Eli Janney is an American record producer and engineer born in Washington, D.C. Janney played bass and keyboards as well as sang backing vocals in indie rock/post-hardcore band Girls Against Boys. He served as associate music director and was the keyboardist for the ''Late Night with Seth Meyers'' house band, the 8G Band from 2014 to 2024. For his contributions to the band as associate director, Janney was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Direction in 2024. He is also the co-host of SonicScoop's InputOutput Podcast, along with Geoff Sanoff of the band Edsel. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United Kingdom, United States and New Zealand in the early to mid-1980s. Although the term was originally used to describe rock music released through independent record labels, by the 1990s it became more widely associated with the music such bands produced. The sound of indie rock has its origins in the New Zealand Dunedin sound of the Chills, Tall Dwarfs, the Clean and the Verlaines, and early 1980s college rock radio stations who would frequently play jangle pop bands like the Smiths and R.E.M. Every Move A Picture
Every Move a Picture is an American electronic rock group. Biography The band initially materialized around vocalist/guitarist Brent Messenger, bassist Joey Fredrick, and drummer Dan Aquino. Childhood friends Messenger and Fredrick had been playing in various bands throughout the early 2000s (at times with Aquino), but Every Move a Picture was not officially made active until early 2004. The quartet was ultimately completed after Portland transplant Allen Davis answered a Craigslist posting and joined up on guitar and keyboards. Soon after, the band recorded three songs at a friend's rehearsal space; their songs found early airplay on local radio and by KROQ's Rodney Bingenheimer in L.A. Post-hardcore is a punk rock music genre that maintains the aggression and intensity of hardcore punk but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression. Like the term "post-punk", the term "post-hardcore" has been applied to a broad constellation of groups. Initially taking inspiration from post-punk and noise rock, post-hardcore began in the 1980s with bands like Hüsker Dü and Minutemen (band), Minutemen. Satellite Party was an alternative rock band formed by Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell following the break-up of Jane's Addiction in 2004. Other members included Carl Restivo (bass) and Farrell's wife, Etty Lau Farrell (backing singer and dancer).
