Elena Garanina
Elena Anatolyevna Garanina (russian: Елена Анатольевна Гаранина; born 19 October 1956) is a former ice dancer who represented the Soviet Union. With Igor Zavozin, she is the 1978 Nebelhorn Trophy and 1981 Winter Universiade champion. They never made it to the World Figure Skating Championships due to the depth of the Soviet dance field. After turning pro, the duo performed in Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean's ice shows. Garanina currently works as a coach. Anton Valeryevich Spiridonov (born August 5, 1998) is a Russian-American ice dancer. With his current skating partner, Lorraine McNamara, he is the 2023 World University Games silver medalist and 2022 CS U.S. Classic bronze medalist. Personal life Spiridonov was born on August 5, 1998, in Kissimmee, Florida to parents Valery Spiridonov, a former pair skater, and Elena Garanina, a former ice dancer, both for the Soviet Union. Universiade Medalists In Figure Skating
The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and " Olympiad". The Universiade is referred to in English as the World University Games or World Student Games; however, this latter term can also refer to competitions for sub-University grades students. In July 2020 as part of a new branding system by the FISU, it was stated that the Universiade will be officially branded as the FISU World University Games. Deutsche Eislauf-Union
The German Ice Skating Union (german: Deutsche Eislauf-Union, DEU) is the national amateur association for figure skating and ice dancing in Germany. The various German ice sports associations constitute the membership of the DEU; individuals cannot become members. The Deutsche Eislauf-Union was formed in June 1964 in Hamburg to promote professional ice skating in its many forms, to recognize achievements in figure skating and ice dancing, and to provide educational opportunities for ice skating professionals. The DEU holds championships and other competitions in Germany. It has training programs not only for athletes, but also for coaches, competition judges, and others in the ice skating industry.
