Elektra (2005 Film)
''Elektra'' is a 2005 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Elektra Natchios and directed by Rob Bowman. It is a spin-off from the film '' Daredevil'' (2003), with Jennifer Garner reprising her role as the titular character. The story follows Elektra, an assassin who must protect a man and his prodigy daughter from another assassin who was hired by the Hand. Goran Višnjić, Will Yun Lee, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, and Terence Stamp also star. For the screenplay, Zak Penn, Stuart Zicherman, and M. Raven Metzner received "written by" credit. Mark Steven Johnson received credit for "motion picture characters" and Frank Miller for "comic book characters". Filming started in early May 2004 in Vancouver. ''Elektra'', Opus number, Op. 58, is a one-act opera by Richard Strauss, to a German-language libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, which he adapted from his 1903 drama ''Elektra''. The opera was the first of many collaborations between Strauss and Hofmannsthal. It was first performed at the Semperoper, Königliches Opernhaus in Dresden on 25 January 1909. It was dedicated to his friends Natalie and Willy Levin. ''Elektra'' is a 2010 Indian Malayalam-language psychological drama film co-written and directed by Shyamaprasad, starring Nayanthara, Manisha Koirala, Prakash Raj, Biju Menon, and Skanda Ashok. It was produced by N. B. Vindhyan, who also produced Shyamaprasad's '' Ore Kadal'' (2007). The film is based on the story of the Greek mythological character Electra, although it has a contemporary setting in an aristocratic family in Kerala. It draws strongly on four adaptations of the myth: ''Electra'' by Sophocles, ''Electra'' by Euripides, ''Oresteia'' by Aeschylus and ''Mourning Becomes Electra'' by Eugene O’Neill (1931). ''Electra'', also ''Elektra'' or ''The Electra'' (, ''Ēlektra''), is a Greek tragedy by Sophocles. Its date is not known, but various stylistic similarities with the '' Philoctetes'' (409 BC) and the '' Oedipus at Colonus'' (406 BC) lead scholars to suppose that it was written towards the end of Sophocles' career. Jebb dates it between 420 BC and 414 BC. Storyline Set in the city of Mycenae a few years after the Trojan War, the play tells of a bitter struggle for justice by Electra and her brother Orestes for the murder of their father Agamemnon by Clytemnestra and their stepfather Aegisthus. Elektra is the fourth studio album from Danish hip hop group Suspekt, released 12 September 2011. It is produced by Rune Rask and Jonas Vestergaard. The symphony orchestra Czech Film Orchestra is featured on ''Brænder Byen Ned'' (''Burning Down The City''), ''Helt Alene'' (''All Alone''), ''Nyt Pas'' (''New Passport'', which features a 3 minutes classical music ending), and ''Parasitter'' (''Parasites''). ''Electra'' ( ''Ilektra'') is a 1962 Greek film based on the play ''Electra'', written by Euripides. It was directed by Michael Cacoyannis, serving as the first installment of his "Greek tragedy" trilogy, followed by ''The Trojan Women'' in 1971 and ''Iphigenia'' in 1977. Michail "Mikis" Theodorakis ( ; 29 July 1925 – 2 September 2021) was a Greek composer and lyricist credited with over 1,000 works. He scored for the films '' Zorba the Greek'' (1964), '' Z'' (1969), and '' Serpico'' (1973). He was a three-time BAFTA nominee, winning for ''Z''.
