Electrico
Electrico is a pop rock and indie Singaporean band originally formed as Electric Company in Singapore in 1996. This band is still active with the present line-up which includes David Tan, Desmond Goh, William Lim Jr. History 1996–1997: Formation Electric Company was formed when David Tan, Keith Colaco, Desmond Goh and William Lim Jr. got together to entertain for a fun fair at their neighbourhood church. The band initially practised in an abandoned steel cargo container. After three years of heavy gigging in the underground Singapore indie scene and developing a quasi cult status, the lack of support for local music and other problems forced Colaco to leave. The band continued briefly as a three piece but disbanded a year later. 2003–2005: Reformation and rename In 2003, lead guitarist Daniel Sassoon of Singaporean indie band Livonia joined the band. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United Kingdom, United States and New Zealand in the early to mid-1980s. Although the term was originally used to describe rock music released through independent record labels, by the 1990s it became more widely associated with the music such bands produced. The sound of indie rock has its origins in the New Zealand Dunedin sound of the Chills, Tall Dwarfs, the Clean and the Verlaines, and early 1980s college rock radio stations who would frequently play jangle pop bands like the Smiths and R.E.M. Kevin Mathews
Kevin Mathews (born 15 February 1961) is a Singaporean singer-songwriter and film music composer. Watchmen Mathews formed The Watchmen in 1989 with his Anglo Chinese School classmates Tony and James Makarome. Originally a five-man band called The Hornets, The Watchmen put out three independent releases in the early 1990s, ''Who Watches the Watchmen'', ''Industry & Commerce'' and the acclaimed ''This Savage Garden''. This garnered the trio an invitation from ''BigO'' magazine to contribute to their ''New School Rock III'' CD in 1993. The Watchmen contributed two songs, "Please Believe Me" and "Orchard Road", which went on to become a radio favourite. ''New School Rock III'' was nominated by 987FM for the Best Local Album of 1993. It was originally established on 10 November 2000 as a free newspaper, free print newspaper, competing primarily with Singapore Press Holdings' (SPH) ''Streats''. The Substation
The Substation (Chinese: 电力站) is Singapore's first independent contemporary arts centre. It was founded in 1990 by Kuo Pao Kun. The Substation is centrally located in the city's civic district and was the first building under the National Arts Council (Singapore), National Arts Council's "Arts Housing Scheme". It officially opened on 16 September 1990. The Substation is a non-profit organisation and registered Institution of Public Character in Singapore, which relies on financial and in-kind support from the general public, commercial organisations and government ministries to cover the costs of operating and developing arts & educational programmes. Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay or nicknamed as The Durian is a performing arts centre located in the Downtown Core of Singapore near the mouth of the Singapore River. Named after the nearby Esplanade Park, it consists of two rounded structures: one housing a concert hall with about 1,600 seats; and the other a theatre with a capacity of about 2,000 for the performing arts. The Float @ Marina Bay
The Float at Marina Bay, stylised as The Float@Marina Bay and also known as the Marina Bay Floating Platform, was a multi-purpose outdoor venue at the Downtown Core area of Marina Bay, Singapore. The venue consists of a steel platform in the Marina Reservoir, and a 27,000-seat grandstand along the shore. The floating platform can bear up to 1,070 tonnes, equivalent to the total weight of 9,000 people, 200 tonnes of theatrical property, stage props and three 30-tonne military vehicles.
