Electric drag racing is a form of drag racing, drag motor racing between electric vehicles. The rules are very different from traditional drag racing. The common safety rules apply but additional rules apply depending on voltage, Electric battery#Types, battery type, motor number and configuration. The National Electric Drag Racing Association (NEDRA) oversees the majority of electric drag racing events in North America. Electric motors produce 100% torque at zero Revolutions per minute, RPM and this makes them quicker off the line compared to a Reciprocating engine, piston-engined vehicle of the same power. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is an independent agency of the United States government tasked with environmental protection matters. A dragstrip is a facility for conducting automobile and motorcycle acceleration events such as drag racing. Although a quarter mile (1320 feet, 402 m) is the best known measure for a drag track, many tracks are eighth mile (201 m) tracks, and the premiere classes will run 1,000 foot (304.8 m) races. The race is begun from a standing start which allows three factors to affect the outcome of the race: reaction time, power/weight ratio, and traction. Tucson Dragway
The Tucson Dragway (also known as the Tucson Dragstrip) is a National Hot Rod Association sanctioned track for drag-racing located in Pima County, Arizona. It is located right next to the Tucson Speedway. History The dragway was created in around 2000, to help stop the problem of street racing. Dragster (car)
A dragster is a specialized competition automobile used in drag racing. Dragsters, also commonly called "diggers", can be broadly placed in three categories, based on the fuel they use: gasoline, methanol, and nitromethane. They are most commonly single-engined, though twin-engined and quad-engined designs did race in the 1950s and 1960s. The design of dragsters evolved from the front-engined rail (named for the exposed frame rails) of the earliest days of drag racing, into the "slingshot" (with the driver between or behind the rear tires, or "slicks") of the early to middle 1960s, to the "modern" type common in the 1970s. Depending on the class they run in, dragsters can be injected or supercharged (or turbocharged), with a variety of possible engines.
