Electric City Football Club is a Canadian semi-professional soccer team based in Peterborough, Ontario, that competes in League1 Ontario's men's and women's division. History Formation The presence of soccer in Peterborough is large despite its small size, and the club is an initiative for the city to take pride in its community, not just for soccer enthusiasts. The history of the sport in the city dates back to the 1880s, and with two college and university teams, highly skilled OWSL and OSL teams, as well as multiple local youth clubs, soccer has held a significant presence in Peterborough. Fleming College, also known as Sir Sandford Fleming College, is an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology located in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. The college has an enrollment of more than 6,800 full-time and 10,000 part-time students. ''The Peterborough Examiner'' is a newspaper that services Peterborough, Ontario and area. The paper started circulation in 1847, and is currently owned by Torstar and operated by its Metroland division. Between 1942 and 1955, it was edited by Canadian man of letters Robertson Davies, whose unique three-paragraph editorial style won several awards. The Peterborough Petes are a junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey League. The team has played at the Peterborough Memorial Centre in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, since 1956, and is the oldest continuously operating team in the league. Windsor TFC is a Canadian soccer team based in Windsor, Ontario, that was founded in 2004. They have competed in the Canadian Professional Soccer League (CPSL) and Canadian Soccer League (CSL).
