Electoral District Of Clayfield
Clayfield is an electoral division of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. It is centred on the inner northern suburb of Clayfield, Queensland, Clayfield in the state capital of Brisbane. The seat was first created in 1950, and consistently returned members for the Liberal Party of Australia (Queensland Division), Liberal Party until its abolition in 1977. The bulk of the seat was merged into nearby electoral district of Merthyr, Merthyr. It was recreated in 1992 as part of the electoral reforms that ended the malapportionment of the Joh Bjelke-Petersen, Bjelke-Petersen era. Although it was created as a notionally Australian Labor Party (Queensland Branch), Labor seat, it was located in ancestrally Liberal territory. Tim Nicholls
Timothy James Nicholls (born 6 April 1965) is an Australian politician and a former leader of the Liberal National Party of Queensland. He served as the Treasurer of Queensland and the Minister for Trade of that state between March/April 2012 and 14 February 2015. He is the member for Electoral district of Clayfield, Clayfield in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. He was originally a member of the Queensland Liberal Party, Liberal Party including a stint as its deputy leader, but joined the Liberal National Party of Queensland, Liberal National Party in 2008 when the Liberal Party and the Queensland National Party, National Party merged in Queensland. Joh Bjelke-Petersen
Sir Johannes Bjelke-Petersen (13 January 191123 April 2005) was an Australian politician and farmer who served as premier of Queensland between 1968 and 1987, for almost 20 years, as state leader of the National Party (earlier known as the Country Party). Bjelke-Petersen was born in New Zealand's North Island to Danish immigrant parents. His family moved back to Australia when he was a child and settled on farming property near Kingaroy, Queensland. He left school at the age of 14 and went into farming. Bjelke-Petersen was elected to the Kingaroy Shire Council in 1946 and to the Queensland Legislative Assembly at the 1947 state election. Two-party-preferred Vote
In Australian politics, the two-party-preferred vote (TPP or 2PP), is the result of an opinion poll or a projection of an election result where preferences are distributed to one of the two major parties, the Labor Party and the Liberal/National Coalition e.g. "Coalition 50%, Labor 50%. The preference distribution is usually based upon the results of the last election, and the votes for other candidates are distributed between to the two parties. As such the TPP is a rough indicator of voting intent that focuses on determining the likely majority in the lower house. It is compared to previous values to predict the swing and hence the likelihood of a change in government between the major parties. Ivan Milton Brown (10 November 1922 – 19 May 1977) was an Australian politician. John Murray (Queensland Politician)
John Chester Murray, MBE (31 December 1915 – 25 January 2009) was an Australian politician. Murray was born in Melbourne, the illegitimate son of a member of the prominent Chaffey family of Mildura, but raised in Sydney. He was educated at The King's School, Parramatta until forced to withdraw due to the Great Depression, after which he worked as a jackeroo, miner and drover for several years. In 1939, he enlisted for service in World War II with the Second Australian Imperial Force, serving with the 2/13th Battalion, 20th Brigade. He served in North Africa, becoming one of The Rats of Tobruk, and later in New Guinea and Borneo, rising to infantry section leader and intelligence officer. He leased his first grazing property, "Gidgee" in far western New South Wales in 1946, and bought his first property, "The Orient" in north Queensland, in 1951. Elizabeth Anne Clark (born 6 November 1953) is an Australian former politician with the Labor Party in the Queensland Legislature who held the seat for Clayfield and also an actress of television and film, director, producer and presenter, credited as Liddy Clark and Liddy Clarke. Santo Santoro
Santo Santoro (born 27 April 1956) is an Australian former politician and a former deputy leader of the Liberal Party in Queensland. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1989 to 2001; and a member of the Australian Senate from 2002 to 2007, representing the state of Queensland. He resigned from John Howard's ministry and from the Senate in the wake of a number of breaches of the Ministerial Code of Conduct and of the Register of Senators' Interests.
