Elections In Denmark
There are three types of elections in Denmark: elections to the national parliament (the Folketing), local elections (to municipal and regional councils), and elections to the European Parliament. Referendums may also be called to consult the Danish citizens directly on an issue of national concern. Parliamentary elections are called by the Monarchy of Denmark, Monarch on the advice of the Prime Minister of Denmark, Prime Minister, usually three to four years after the last election, although early elections may occur. Elections to local councils (municipal or regional) and to the European Parliament are held on fixed dates. Elections use the party-list proportional representation system. All Danish citizens, living in the Kingdom of Denmark and at least 18 years of age, are eligible to vote in parliamentary elections and long-time residents may vote in local elections. Independent Greens (Denmark)
The Independent Greens – Denmark's New Left-Wing Party (), or simply the Independent Greens () (Q), is a left-wing political party in Denmark. It was founded 7 September 2020 by four former members of The Alternative: Sikandar Siddique, Uffe Elbæk, and Susanne Zimmer, who were members of the Danish parliament, and Niko Grünfeld, member of Copenhagen City Council. The party leader is Sikandar Siddique. Elbæk was founder and leader of The Alternative from 2013 to 2020. The Independent Greens describe themselves as left wing and a "responsible, climate-conscious and anti-racist party". Danish People's Party
The Danish People's Party (DPP; , DF) is a nationalist and right-wing populist political party in Denmark. It was formed in 1995 by former members of the Progress Party (FrP). The party saw a period of significant growth after its founding and lent its support to the – Conservative People's Party coalition government that ruled from the general election of 2001 until the 2011 election defeat. While not part of the cabinet, DF cooperated closely with the governing coalition on most issues and received support for key political stances in return, to the point that the government was commonly referred to as the "VKO-government" (O being DF's election symbol). It also provided parliamentary support to Lars Løkke Rasmussen's cabinets from 2016 to 2019, again without participating in it. The Alternative (Denmark)
The Alternative () is a green and pro-European political party in Denmark. The party was publicly launched on 27 November 2013 by former Minister of Culture Uffe Elbæk and Josephine Fock; Elbæk had been a parliamentarian for the Social Liberal Party. Elbæk was the leader of the party until February 2020, where he stepped down and was succeeded by Fock. Currently the party is led by Franciska Rosenkilde. It collaborates with DiEM25 at the European level. The Alternative regards itself as a political movement and a cultural voice, as well as a political party. New Right (Denmark)
Nye Borgerlige (NB for short and often translated as the New Right) is a national-conservative and right-wing populist political party in Denmark. Formed by Pernille Vermund and Peter Seier Christensen in 2015, it first entered the Folketing in 2019 with four seats (out of 179) and again in 2022 with six. After three defections in the first months after the election, by March 2023 the party's number of seats in the Folketing was reduced to three. Having been chairman throughout its existence, Vermund resigned in January 2023. Lars Boje Mathiesen succeeded her in February but was expelled after just 30 days in office. With two MFs having left before then, Vermund took over again as '' de facto'' chairman, being officially reelected in October. The Red–Green Alliance or Unity List (, , EL) is an Eco-socialism, eco-socialist List of political parties in Denmark, political party in Denmark. The Denmark Democrats ( , DD) is a conservative and right-wing populist political party in Denmark. The party was founded in June 2022 by Inger Støjberg, and is officially titled Denmark DemocratsInger Støjberg (''DanmarksdemokraterneInger Støjberg''). The party is currently in opposition to the second Frederiksen government. The Green Left, since March 2022 the English name for Socialistisk Folkeparti (, , abbr. SF), is a democratic socialist political party in Denmark. SF was founded on 15 February 1959 by Aksel Larsen, a former leader of the Communist Party of Denmark (DKP), who was removed for criticizing the Soviet intervention in the Hungarian Revolution of 1956.
