Eleanor Burns
Eleanor Burns (born July 3, 1945, in Zelienople, Pennsylvania) is a master quilter and former TV series host of ''Quilt in a Day'', which aired in 1994 on PBS for six seasons. Career Burns first started stitching on her Aunt Edna's feed sacks. Her first book, ''Make a Quilt in a Day: Log Cabin Pattern'', was self-published in 1978. The book has been credited with starting a quilt-making revolution as people learned Burns's style of stitching a quilt. She has since written more than 100 books on the subject of quilting. In addition, Burns has written many patterns and developed a series of specialty rulers for quilting. The ''Quilt in a Day'' TV series, which first aired in 1990, was based on Burns's book ''Make a Quilt in a Day''. Award In 2012, Burns was inducted into the Quilters Hall of Fame. Zelienople, Pennsylvania
Zelienople () is a borough in western Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States, north of Pittsburgh. The population was 3,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. History Zelienople was named for the eldest daughter of Baron Dettmar Basse (1762–1836), whose chosen name was Zelie (her given name was Fredericka) which she named herself after her favorite doll. Baron Basse arrived in 1802 from Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and purchased a tract of of land in Butler and Beaver counties. He proceeded to lay out a village and build his own private residence, a three-story castle, complete with towers, turrets and battlements, named "The Bassenheim", which was destroyed by fire on July 29, 1841. RFD-TV is an American pay television channel owned by Rural Media Group, Inc. The channel features programming devoted to rural issues, concerns and interests. The channel's name is a reference to Rural Free Delivery, the name for the United States Postal Service's system of delivering mail directly to rural patrons. The Marie Webster House, also known as George Webster Jr. and Marie Daugherty House, is a historic house at 926 South Washington Street in Marion, Indiana. Built in 1905, it was the home of quilter Marie Webster (1859-1956) from 1909 until 1942, and is now home to the Quilters Hall of Fame. Quilt
A quilt is a multi-layered textile, traditionally composed of two or more layers of fabric or fiber. Commonly three layers are used with a filler material. These layers traditionally include a woven cloth top, a layer of padding, batting or wadding, and a woven back combined using the techniques of quilting.
