''Eldritch Role-Playing System'' is a role-playing game published by Goodman Games in 2008. Description ''Eldritch Role-Playing System'' is an epic fantasy role-playing game system contained in a 96-page book designed by Dan Cross and Randall Petras, with interior art by Eric Bergeron, and cover art by Peter Bradley. Rather than being based on ''D&D''s character class system, this RPG is based on abilities and actions. Publication history Starting in 2001, Goodman Games had built its business on creating d20 System fantasy role-playing adventures using ''Dungeons & Dragons 3.0'' rules under Wizards of the Coast (WotC)'s Open Game License (OGL) for the d20 System. Evil Hat Productions is a company that produces role-playing games and other tabletop games. Chief among them is the free indie RPG, '' Fate'', which has won numerous awards. History Fred Hicks had been working with Lydia Leong, Rob Donoghue, and others to run LARPs at AmberCon NorthWest starting in 1999, and came up with the name Evil Hat for themselves. While on a trip to Lake Tahoe, friends Hicks and Donoghue developed a new game based on a conversation about running another ''Amber'' game and fixing some problems with '' FUDGE''; the result was '' Fate'' which Hicks and Donoghue would publish under the name Evil Hat. ''Dungeoneer'' is a non- collectible card game designed by Thomas Denmark and released by Atlas Games. Denmark is also credited for many of the illustrations of the cards. During each game turn, players alternatively take on the role of the "dungeon lord", who unleashes monsters and traps on his opponents, and of the adventurer who explores the dungeon trying to solve his quests. The game is won either by a dungeon lord who defeats all of his opponents, or by an adventurer who successfully solves three quests. A gamemaster (GM; also known as game master, game manager, game moderator, referee, or storyteller) is a person who acts as an organizer, officiant for regarding rules, arbitrator, and moderator for a multiplayer role-playing game. They are more common in co-operative games in which players work together than in competitive games in which players oppose each other. The act performed by a gamemaster is sometimes referred to as "Gamemastering" or simply "GM-ing".
