Eldridge Smerin
Eldridge Smerin is an architectural firm based in London. It was formed in 1998, by Nick Eldridge and Piers Smerin. Eldridge Smerin's first completed project was the Lawns, a house in the Highgate Conservation area. It was nominated for the 2001 Stirling Prize. Subsequent projects include the Design Council Offices and a house in Highgate Cemetery Highgate Cemetery is a place of burial in North London, England, designed by architect Stephen Geary. Stirling Prize
The Royal Institute of British Architects Stirling Prize is a British prize for excellence in architecture. It is named after the architect James Stirling, organised and awarded annually by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). The Stirling Prize is presented to "the architects of the building that has made the greatest contribution to the evolution of architecture in the past year". The architects must be RIBA members. Until 2014, the building could have been anywhere in the European Union, but since 2015 entries have had to be in the United Kingdom. In the past, the award included a £20,000 prize, but it currently carries no prize money. Highgate Cemetery
Highgate Cemetery is a place of burial in North London, England, designed by architect Stephen Geary. There are approximately 170,000 people buried in around 53,000 graves across the West and East sides. Highgate Cemetery is notable both for some of the people buried there as well as for its ''de facto'' status as a nature reserve. The Cemetery is designated Grade I on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. Location The cemetery is in Highgate N6, next to Waterlow Park, in the London Borough of Camden. It comprises two sides, on either side of Swain's Lane. The main gate is on Swain's Lane, just north of Oakshott Avenue. There is another, disused, gate on Chester Road. The nearest public transport (Transport for London) is the C11 bus, Brookfield Park stop, and Archway tube station.
