John Eldred
John Eldred (1552–1632) was an English traveller and merchant. His ''Journal of his Voyage to Tripoli and Bassora'' is reproduced in Richard Hakluyt's ''Principal Navigations'' of 1599. Early life Eldred was born in 1552 at New Buckenham in Norfolk, where his father had moved from Knettishall in Suffolk. It seems probable that he went to London while still young, devoted himself to business and prospered. He was already a well-to-do merchant when 'upon Shrove Monday 1583' he 'departed out of London in the ship called the ''Tiger'', in the company of Mr. John Newbery, Mr. Ralph Fitch, and six or seven other honest merchants.' Thomas Brownell Eldred
Thomas Brownell Eldred (1903–1993) was an American Abstract expressionist painter and printmaker. Biography Eldred was born on February 19, 1903, in Climax, Michigan. He served for a time with the Merchant Marines. He attended the Kalamazoo College, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Art Students League of New York, and Atelier 17. His teachers included Guy Pène du Bois, Thomas Hart Benton, Stanley William Hayter, Louis Ritman, and John Vanderpoel., Eldred was strongly influenced by Werner Drewes. Eldred taught printmaking at the Brooklyn Museum Art School from 1933 through 1938 under the auspices of the Works Progress Administration. Ted Eldred
Edward Francis Eldred (16 December 1920 to August 2005) was a pioneer of scuba diving in Australia. He invented Porpoise scuba gear. Early years Eldred was born in Melbourne in 1920. As a young man he lived by the sea near Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula south of Melbourne. He started snorkelling as soon as mask, fins and snorkel were available, and wished that he could make or obtain some sort of free-swimming breathing set, until World War II intervened. After World War II in the late 1940s he designed a sport diving oxygen rebreather. Eldred said he had never dived with the Cousteau-Gagnan model of the Aqua Lung, but knew of its existence and its principle. Mike Eldred (born June 12, 1965) is an American tenor, known for his work in musical theater. He has performed on Broadway and in regional productions. He has also appeared in concert, as well as on recordings, radio, and television. Early life Eldred was born part of a musical family that traveled by bus, performing in Christian revivals and events. His father was not only a Baptist preacher but also a classic baritone and a tuba player. Young Mike was harmonizing with music on the radio at the age of four. Mike Eldred is an American guitarist and luthier. Eldred originally came to national attention while backing Lee Rocker in the mid-1990s. He also served as director of the Fender Custom Shop. He has put out four albums as leader of the Mike Eldred Trio. Career Early career Eldred, a native of Arizona, started playing guitar at 14 when his parents bought him an instrument. He started building guitars at age 19 and was hired by the Charvel company in early 1979. He worked there for about eight or nine years, then joined Yamaha Corporation, where he also spent roughly eight or nine years. Eldred also eventually started a blues band called The Blue Diamonds, which recorded a demo tape to get club bookings. The tape came to the notice of Brian Setzer of the Stray Cats, who were breaking up. Setzer passed his copy on to Stray Cats bass player Lee Rocker. Arthur Rose Eldred (August 16, 1895 – January 4, 1951) was an American agricultural and railroad industry executive, civic leader, and the first Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). As a 16-year-old candidate for the highest rank bestowed by the BSA, he was personally interviewed by a panel composed of the youth organization's founders, including Ernest Thompson Seton and Daniel Carter Beard. Eldred was awarded the coveted distinction of Eagle Scout on September 2, 1912, becoming the first of more than two million boys in the U.S. since then to earn Scouting's most vaunted rank. Eldred also received the Bronze Honor Medal for lifesaving, and was the first of four generations of Eagle Scouts in his family.
