Elangbam Panthoi Chanu
Panthoi Chanu Elangbam (, born 1 February 1996) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for the Indian Women's League club East Bengal and India women's football team. In March 2024, she played the South Australia Women's National Premier Leagues for Metro United WFC to become the first woman from India to play the Australian Football League. Early life Chanu is from Keirak village, Kakching district, Manipur. She is the daughter of Elangbam Chinglenkhomba and Elangbam Ongbi Shanti Leima of Keirak Makha Leikai. She started playing football at the local club, Women Football Academy Kakching. In 2012, she moved to Eastern Sporting Union. She played for Union and Manipur Police in the Indian Women's League and the regional Manipur Women's League. The Senior Women's National Football Championship for Rajmata Jijabai Trophy, also known as Senior Women’s National Football Championship or simply the Rajmata Jijabai Trophy since 2024, is a women's football tournament contested by state associations and government institutions in India. The first edition was held in 1991 and is organized by the All India Football Federation to crown the national women's football champion each year. It is based on a league and knockout format. Football At The South Asian Games
Football has been a sport at the South Asian Games since it commenced in 1984. Since the 2004 South Asian Games, the age limit for men's teams is under 23, plus up to three overaged players for each squad, which is the same as the age limit in football competitions at the Summer Olympics and Asian Games. Nepal and Pakistan are currently the most successful countries in the Men's event with 4 Gold Medals each while India is the most successful in Women's event with 3 Gold Medals. 2016 SAFF Women's Championship
The 2016 SAFF Women's Championship was the 4th edition of the SAFF Women's Championship, the biennial international women's football championship contested by the national teams of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF). The tournament began in India from 26 December 2016 and went on until 4 January 2017. The country was awarded hosting rights in January 2016. This was the first time India had hosted the SAFF Women's Championship. The defending champions coming into the tournament were India, who won the three previous tournaments. By the end of the tournament, India emerged as champions again, defeating Bangladesh in the final 3–1. 2014 SAFF Women's Championship
The 2014 SAFF Women's Championship was an association football tournament for women's national teams organised by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF). It was the third edition of the tournament since the first one in 2010. The competition was contested by the eight SAFF members. The tournament was hosted in Islamabad, Pakistan from 11 to 21 November 2014. In the final, India successfully defended their title by beating Nepal in the final. Host selection On 10 September 2013, SAFF executive committee decided that 3rd SAFF Women's Championship will be held in Pakistan. Venue Jinnah Sports Stadium in Islamabad hosted all the matches. Although entry to all games was free, there were very few local spectators.
