This is a list of rugby union footballers who have played for the Cheetahs (rugby union), Cheetahs in Super Rugby, the Pro14 and the EPCR Challenge Cup. The list includes any player that has played in a regular season match, semi-final or final for the Cheetahs, ordered by debut date and name. The Cheetahs competed in Super Rugby in 1997 as Free State and as the Cheetahs between 2006 and 2017 and then in Super Rugby Unlocked in 2020, the Pro14 between 2017 and 2020 and the EPCR Challenge Cup since 2022. Cheetahs (rugby Union)
The Cheetahs (known for sponsorship reasons as the Toyota Cheetahs), is a South African professional rugby union team based at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein. They have played Super Rugby between 2006 and 2017, then the Pro14 (now United Rugby Championship) from 2017 to 2020, and currently the EPCR Challenge Cup since 2022. The franchise area encompasses the western half of the Free State province, the same as that of provincial Currie Cup side the . Between 2006 and 2015, the from the eastern half of the Free State province and from the Northern Cape province were Cheetahs franchise partners, but this ended prior to the 2016 Super Rugby season. The Cheetahs was one of the two new franchises that entered the expanded Super 14 competition in 2006, the other being Australia's Western Force. He plays as a number eight for the Newcastle Falcons in the IPA Greene King Championship, having previously played for the in Super Rugby, in Super Rugby, the in the Currie Cup, in the French Pro D2 and Canon Eagles in the Japanese Top League. Teboho Stephen 'Oupa' Mohojé (born 3 August 1990) is a South African rugby union player for the in the Pro14 and the in the Currie Cup. He can play as a flanker or lock. Andries Stephanus Ferreira (born 29 March 1990) is a South African rugby union player. He plays for the US Carcassonne in the Pro D2 with his regular playing position as a lock. Career Youth and Varsity Cup rugby Ferreira went to Despatch High School in his home town of Despatch and was selected to represent Eastern Province at the Under-16 Grant Khomo Week tournaments in 2005 and 2006. He then moved to Pretoria, where he finished his schooling at Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool. Rayno Shannon Benjamin (born 3 August 1983) is a South African rugby union footballer who plays as a wing or centre for Japanese Top East League side Shimizu Blue Sharks. Career He started out his career in the Western Cape with the Boland Cavaliers and his impressive performances saw him earn Super Rugby honours with the Stormers during the 2006 Super 14 season. Sarel Johannes Pretorius (born 18 April 1984) is a South African rugby player who plays at scrum half for the in the Pro14. During 2007–2011 he played in the Currie Cup for Griquas and made his Super Rugby debut for the in 2009 against the Western Force. In 2010 and 2011 he played in every match.
